1999 black with tan interior. Fully loaded with everything but the wing over the rear. The seats are not just green. They are black/green/brown and not just, where one sits. The bad colorization covers the front of the bottom and top of both front seats.

Default longo

It does seem like Longo has the most posts recommending thier sales and service. To be fair I wonder if its a percentage thing as they sell more than anyone -- or is that what make them be able to be nicer? When the survey is completed and added up I would love to see the results compared the the units sold to see what effect the sales may have on the percentages. However, this only really counts on buying cars I guess.

Default Re: Lexus not backing LX470/dealer problems

Certless:

I bought my GS from Kearny Mesa back in '99. The sales experience was great, but I found their service department lacking (Corolla loaners??? Yuck!).

You seem to have a bunch of problems w/ the LX. Is it still under the CPO warranty? If so, I don't see why any dealership wouldn't address your concerns.

Regarding the leather seat discoloration, most dealerships outsource the work. When I had my drivers seat leather replaced under warranty, my dealership brought in a leather specialist to install the leather. He also color-matched the center console and passenger seat so they all would match. If your under warranty, push them to replace the leather.

Regarding the wood, I don't really understand the problem. Are you saying the OEM wood pieces don't match? Or did the dealership install an aftermarket wood kit?

In the end, I am sorry about your problems. But how long did you inspect and test the vehicle before buying it? When I bought my GS, it was brand new off the truck, and had never been test driven. But I still inspected the hell out of it for any problems. I'm sorry that in your excitement, you may have rushed into buying the LX. Regardless, call Lexus customer service again for help. They may be your best ally. Good luck.

Certless,

I agree with your statements 100%!!!!

Lexus service is going the way of all other US car dealerships...dirtbags and cheats. Who takes pride in thier work anymore? I dont let anyone touch our cars but still I have to buy them...and have had a hell of a time finding people that stand behind what they say. Its says alot about why these trucks are built in Japan.

Hey, but we can get free Latte's and look around at the million dollar showroom while we pay 100/hr for routine maintenance. Ha!

"I love the truck. It is overall the best built out ther. But the Lexus service is starting to feel like most of the other dealers out there. It is just wrong that the world accepts service reps being paid on a commission. The only other industry that got away with this were the brokerage companies and that has finally gotten stopped. AUTO DEALERS should be next!"

If anyone wants to read a real horror story...please jump to my thread about Stevinson Lexus here in Colorado.

At least you dont have a rebuilder.

Spyder,

That is good to hear. Yes, I would agree that a fellow "car guy" is someone that will look out for your interests in the service department. I have been hearing about the CA prices on new models and will look into it on our next purchase.

thank you for your leather replacement story/response. I did buy the car at night in a parking lot off Kearny Mesa who dealered in up in LA. I was promised that the car was perfect and that if not it had both the orig manf and the pre owned cert war. and that any concern would be covered. After I took the car the story changed and the pre owned cert was worthless becuase Lexus says its a dealer issue and Kearny Mesa signed off that the car was inspected to be in good condition with clear items like a broken head light that were not in good condition. Then Lexus says the seats are a uses problem. For a company that makes more off this truck than any other car sold it is a little odd that they are not more concerned that their dealers are selling cars without inspections and even more concerning that Lexus will not force their dealer to make good on the pre owned cert. Its either a leather defect and Lexus problem or a user damage that Kearny Mesa should have fixed before selling it to me as a PERFECT CAR.

In a good effort to help and provide service the Santa Monica dealer offered to die the seats. While I still want the seat covers replaced I let them try it even though its really not their problem which is great of Santa Monica Lexus. Although I just picked up the car and aside from the paint smell that I assume will go away shortly the seats feel like at best 220 grit sand paper. They do look OK. But the sand paper feeling and the fack that it will all rub off again after the war is gone I am not accepting this as a final result. I am still waiting on Lexus to respond again to my requests. However, my last call into Lexus thay said that the case was closed as Kearny Mesa said it would not do anything so Lexus closed their case and once they close a case it cannot be re-openned?????????????????????????????????????????????

Wilde Lexus of Sarasota,FL.
Rating: **
Parts: Paul
Service: Audrey
Comments: Paul in parts has been very, very helpful from day one and realizes the over prices of the parts and service. Audrey is fun to talk to and knowledgeable but this is where it all stops.

The tech (no name) that worked one my car was stated as the best they had. It wasn’t until I told them what to look for that the diagnosis was discovered at a diagnosis fee of $266.93 and this is their best? The total cost was $929.25. Without going into details of the work I’ll have to say expensive but so be it.
Here is where it gets interesting - I was informed that due to the modifications on my car the warranty was null and void. The service was for an electrical problem and the modifications have no electrical components Teins, Work wheels, SS brake lines and S&D rotors.
After getting the car home I noticed the following:
1. The snap for the bra was broken (those dirty boys)
2. The engine cover was not reattached and one nut was missing. The other 3 where just setting in the holes.
3. The diagnosis port was left open and a by-pass wire was still in place.
Although the repair was done I’d have to say it wasn’t completed, if I preformed work like this I would be out of business.
Did I complain? No, don’t like farting upwind! Will I take my car back? Not unless I absolutely have too…
I’ve also heard that the voiding of the warranty is a common practice of this local dealership.
An aside I’ve heard good things about Lexus of Clearwater,FL.

People,

I must say...the Lexus brand and name for brand quality and everything else that goes along with those million dollar ads we all see on tv....will all go by the way side.

Every time a workmanship or dealer issue comes up...we all call Lexus direct. What has been your result? Every time Lexus sides with the dealer...what good is a Lexus if dirtbad dealers are out there to service the public?

Sorry if I dont sound to chipper tonight but really...this is what it has come to. Sure, we can all buy a brand new Lexus and expect one of the best built (in Japan) cars on the road. But, what happens a couple years down the road and we let these dealers fiddle with the cars? You got it...things are not done right.

It truly is a sad day when I buy a Certified 99 LX from Stevinson Lexus in Colorado and spend over 40k just to find out its a rebuilder in a major crash, had rear brakes worn to sensors, missing brackets, CD inop, no floor mats, loose body cladding...the list goes on and on. Yeah, I bought the LX...it was dark, we liked the color, we dont get down to the dealer often and I trusted the Certified logo. What a crock. What happened when I called Lexus direct about the above mentioned items? They told me evey Lexus dealer sets his/her own standards for a Certified Lexus and I would have to take it up with the dealer myself. Ha, what good is Lexus Corp? I think the whole brand will suffer in the years to come and all the dirtbag dealers will get even worse. But, the Colorado Attourney General was happy to hear my story and if Stevinson Lexus did not buy it back there would have been some fun in the courts. In the end...it was quite a eye opening experience. Did I trust dealers before? no, not really but thought the Lexus dealer network was above the rest...no so, they are just as bad if not worse. Did I ever service anything at shops? no, never...I dont even let tire stores touch my cars...I take the wheels off myself and run them over loose. Will I ever service anything at a Lexus dealer? Never

Dealership Name, Lexus of San Antonio
Your rating, OK, 3.5
Would you recommend this service/parts dept? Yes.
Your service advisor/contact. Various
Any specific technicians. Various, but they know their stuff.
Comments, positive or negative.
Pricing for common service. Excellent pricing, even took off labor prices for parts even though my warranty expired.

Technically, living in Mexico City, I have no Lexus dealers. The cars are not sold here. If you do need service while vacationing in Mexico go to Toyota. They have dealers in Monterrey, Guadalajara and Mexico City, with nine more to come over the next year. Should have Lexus after NAFTA takes full effect in 2004.

I use these 2 dealerships:

---- 1st dealership ----
Dealership Lexus of New Orleans , Louisiana
Your rating: 3.5 stars
Would you recommend this service/parts dept? Yes
Your service advisor/contact: Mark Bordelon

Comments: This is the dealership the RX was originally bought, they have always provided pretty good service. Even when my RX's engine locked up on the interstate (sludge problem) they had a tow truck there to tow it to the dealership within an hour, and i was 2 states away. They of course replaced the entire motor free, my only complaint was I was not given a loaner car to use for the weeks my RX was in the shop. Any other little problems I had in the past they fixed correctly and prompty. Also i find at this dealership it takes longer for me to get a return phone call from my service advisor than at the other dealership.

side notes:
** nice waiting area
** always offer refreshments
** always return my car washed and cleaned inside and out
** in general all employees i encounter are nice and helpful

Pricing for common service: I havent had any non-warrantee work done yet

---- 2nd dealership ----
Dealership Price Leblanc Lexus Baton Rouge , Louisiana
Your rating: 4 stars
Would you recommend this service/parts dept? Yes Very Much!
Your service advisor/contact: Kirt Edmonston

Comments: Although this is not where i bought my RX I prefer this dealership. Any and every little problem i would like to have looked at they gladly fix for me and always have a loaner vehicle for me to take. The best way I can describe how this dealership is better than the other one is that everything at Price Leblanc just seems to run smoother and take less time out of my day. You just drive up, someone walks up to you, asks your name, asks for your drivers liscense and ins. card and in 5 minutes you are leaving the lot in a loaner vehicle to go about your day. Also if i leave a message my service advisor calls back very quickly. This dealership also bends the rules a little more than the other one does to keep customers happy. 3 of my 4 power door lock actuators went out at about 50,500 miles and my services advisor made sure it would be fixed for free even though it wasnt under warrantee because i had mentioned 1 time i didnt think they were working right even though they were functioning fine. at $275 per actautor plus labor that was a nice comp!

side notes:
** nice waiting area, if you have to wait
** always offer refreshments
** always return my car washed and cleaned inside and out
** in general all employees i encounter are nice and helpful (the
employees you have previously met usually remmeber your
name)
** in general Price Leblanc usually fixes my car a little quicker

Pricing for common service: I havent had any non-warrantee work done yet

I in no way think Lexus of New Orleans is lacking, all of my experiences there have been very nice, but i think the purpose of this survey is to help people who may be trying to decide which dealership to buy from in my area and in that case i have to rank Price Leblanc a little higher.
