Clutch Synchronizer?

Just purchased a 2005 IS 300 and noticed difficulty (grinding) up-shifting and down-shifting into 4th gear. No other shiftiing problems.

Any suggestions what this could be and possible solutions?

I would check all of the other (easier) items first... check the trans fluid for the proper level and type, bleed the clutch master/slave of any air... then it may be time to look inside the trans unfortunately...
