Where's the fuel filter?
Where's the fuel filter in my '98 LS 400? I don't have a good way to get underneath, understand? It is underneath, isn't it?
|
yes above the rear diff
|
That figures. It sure is tight under there. Do I need to to anything before I start unscrewing? A "little" gas spill won't hurt me ;) Especially if it is on my neighbor's....:D

Some fuel filter replacements require (suggest) that you depressurize the system. This will help reduce backflow. Others suggest you remove the fuse for the fuel pump so that it won't accidentally start pumping when the filter is removed. It shouldn't as long as the key is not in the ignition. A quick call to your Lexus shop may give you the answer you need.
Oh yeah, don't smoke. :D |
when my fuel filter was changed they just removed it and fuel just spewed out.
when you remove the driver side rear wheel you will see the fuel filter.. i got mine changed for 30 bucks including labor. |
Did fuel just keep spilling out? I put a bucket under mine and finally just tightened it back up because the fuel keep coming and coming and coming....
There has to be a trick.:) |
they just put this triangular rubber grommet (looks like a wine stopper) to stop the fuel from comming out.
