How often to change oil in 2011 IS F??
Hey guys, I was looking for some insight to a question I have. I recently purchased an IS F with 2,000 miles on it and when speaking to the dealer about oil changes they said since it is using synthetic oil that I only need to replace the oil every 10,000. That seemed very high to me so I called them again when I reached 4,000 miles to make sure I had heard him right, and he said yes every 10,000 miles. My previous car was an Infiniti G35 and I only used Mobil 1 and I got 196,000 perfect miles out of that car/engine. I changed the oil about every 5,000 miles on the G35. What do you guys recommend I use for oil on my 2011 IS F?? I am expecting to have the car for about 6 years and put close to 200,000 miles on it. How often should I be changing the oil and other fluids, Ijust reached 6,000 miles and 10,000 just seems so far away?? Thanks in advance.

Individual owner preference... Me, I change mine every 3-5k, using Mobil 1 Extended Performance... For me, its peace of mind...
Others still change their oil every 3k, religiously, regardless what their car calls for...
Only way to tell for sure is to drain the oil, send it in for analysis... That's more of a pain and more expensive to me than just changing the oil more often...

(1) try follow schema: if use MOBIL 10W30 or 5W30 at winter - then use it simple cheapest MOBIL oil and use it max. 3K.
(2) if summer you can skip to 10W40 or 15W40 as well use MOBIL simple mineral oil, not need overpay for a synth. and use it as well 3-to-3.5K
every change don't forget ask them to change filter and air filter (at least clean it).
But there is a technique to use a special process, calls "R e C o v e r" then you can double the oil-change intervals.
One dealer in California do that process still yet.,
good luck with Your IS !

This post is so full of fail...
First off, NEVER use 10w-40 or heavy oils like that in your car- that is a quick way to ruin the motor. Heavy oils simply don't flow as well and will starve the bearings of flow. Secondly, there are definitely benefits to using synthetics.

I'm resurrecting this thread. So There was a recently posted question about oil changes. And If I'm not mistaken one of the members had mentioned to do it every 8,000 Miles.
I've been changing my oil on my IS-F every 5K, as a matter of fact even before it hits it; and have been using Mobil 1 5W-30. I don't track and this car mainly sees the freeway!
I was just wondering what's the general consesus is?!?! And yes the manual says 5 K. again... looking for the consesus.
