fuel filter location 91 ls400

Guys,

I am still looking for some manuals for my 91 ls400. In the meantime, can someone let me know where the fuel filter is on my 91 ls400? I would like to go ahead and swap it out while I am going over the car doing some proactive maintenance.

Hi Rhlight,

I bought one alreadly but have not found time to put it in yet.
$36 from Lexus , right ? Any how , I've been told the fuel filter should be on the bottom somewhere near the rear driver's wheel.

Let me know how it goes ? I have a 91 LS also.

I've done the T-belt , S-Belt, plugs, wires, rotors,T-stat., and many oil changes. For plugs , the Bosch+4 don't seem like they are worth the extra money. For oil filter I use the TOYOTA EQUIV. for $6 ea.

I am having some work done on my Lex today by a trusted independent Lex mechanic. Since I am dropping some money in his shop today, I plan on asking him about a couple of things - I will ask him to point out the filter location to me.

How hard was it to replace the spark plugs and wires? I have done it on a couple of other cars but it seems to be a little harder to find on this one. I will probably use oem platinum plugs (denso or maybe bosch [non +4] if they make them)

Thanks,

rhlight

mlevk,

I am planning to replace the fuel filter on my 91LS400 as well. Could you please post the part number for the filter?

The plugs and wires took a bit of time since I don't have a manual but I did it.

I used Bosch Wires and Bosch +4 plugs. The wires were close but not exact as with all non-OEM stuff. Come to find out the Lexus wires were cheaper ! But the Bosch wires have a lifetime warranty. They area a bit longer for the #1,2,3,4 cylinders. I would skip using Bosch on the plugs, I think they actually leak between the ceramic portion and the metal jacket. I was having crusing problems , and yank them out. Looking closely there is a "oil film" with directional spray outwards ? I put the Denso back in and presto , it went away. So , keep it OEM !

As for doing it , the covers and the intake assy have to come off. As you notice you can't see any of the wires or plugs.
The driver side is fairly easy, but the air intake stuff all has to be removed. The top cam cover and the long black plastic piece , with the 32 VALVES V8 lettering is ONE whole piece. Under this is the spark plug and wires, deep into the head, you will need a long extension.

Sorry , posted the wrong pic.
No I don't have twin turbos on my LS !!!!

I was thinking of doing a step by step and posting it on my
WEB site. What do people think ? If I get a few responses I'll do it.

Hyperot , I don't have the P/N , I just went in and asked for the part, I still have the box at home and can post it on Monday if I can remember to do that.

a couple of things,

the fuel filter is located in front of the driver's rear wheel, underneath a shield.

Mlevk,

What kind of engine is that? Like you said, it is not your LS400 engine, I was wondering if it was a supra twin turbo or something.

If you wouldn't mind doing a step-by-step on your web site for swapping out plugs, that would be fantastic!

It is a Toyota/Lexus V8 , the cover is off and the 2 dist caps are off as well.

I'll start the pics on the plugs and wire install/replacemnt soon.

sorry, I am not sure if the filter for the 1994 is the same. I searched in the forums and couldn't find a prior posting about it anywhere.
