What's the best synthetic blend 50/50 oil?
Hey guys,
I was wondering what the "best" synthetic blend 50/50 oil out there was.
I know there will be some disagreement but I just want some names thrown out. I believe Mobil 1 does not make a synthetic blend or am I wrong?
I've also heard of Castrol Syntec blend, anything else?
Thanks guys.

Just went to Pepboys, and saw the Castrol Syntec and Valvoline synthetic blends, both were a little more than half the cost of Mobil 1 per quart.
Any recommendations for synthetic blends or are Castrol and Valvoline basically on par with each other?

I'm thinking about using a synthetic blend ONLY as a transition from conventional oil to synthetic oil on my car with 70k miles. Some members of this board said this would be a good way to safely transition.
After these 3000 miles I will be running full synthetic
Unless someone can convince me why this course of action is unnecessary, I will probably go with blend for the next 3000 miles and then switch to synthetic. No harm in being too safe.

Try Castrol
Intel - Only seen one SAE test on syn-blends & Syntec was the top choice. In fact, there's yet to be an industry standard ( that I know of ) set as to the minimium amount of synthetic oil to be used in a "blend" & still be considered as such. Some companies have been claiming that all they need is as little as 5% synthetic/95% conventional to claim to be a blend ( having all the benefits of a more concentrated version ). Can't recall the Castrol percentages but believe them to be higher. I'll try & dig up the results when I get to my office files.

Thanks for the info MG, appreciate it.
If you dig up any more info please post it, if not, thats ok too, I'm sure all the top brands provide around the same performance...this is just a transition anyways
