Default Heater unit please reply

I am in the process of cleaning my cabin air filter compartment (SC400 1992 automatic). There was no filter in it so there is a lot of pine straw and other stuff in there. My question is, can anything down there cause the heater to initially blow some what warm air and after 5 to 10 minutes the air cools down significantly. I would like to check this now because I have everything torn apart.
Thanks in advance

I would check your heater control valve, and also check to see if you have any air in the cooling system.
