I use Mobil1 Fully Synthetic 5W-30 in my SC3.

I am considering switching to Amsoil though, their 0W-30 once a year oil change is nice! http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/sso.aspx

Their 4 Gallon case is a sweet deal, you'll spend a little more right now, but save a lot later! Breaks down to about $10 qt.

mobil 1 extended performance, 5000 intervals...

I had consumption issues with the stuff in Mexico in the 5W30 and 0W40 weights and had to use additives to keep the consumption in check. However, I'll add that Mexico (Mexico City to be exact) had the following characteristics: 7,000+ altitude, steep hills mountains on my commute, 25% less oxygen at that altitude, not to mention heavy traffic. Not exactly great for vehicle or its oil. I'll throw in that I used to take it 1/4 mile racing. However, when I switched off to the Castrol 0W30, I encountered no such consumption issues.

Keep in mind, you might do just fine running M1, but it depends on what you do with your vehicle, what grade you use and where you live among other things.

Amsoil 0W30 is also a good oil. I'd also throw into the mix Pennzoil Platinum (I'd take that over M1 for the price).

I like amsoil the most but honestly if your going to do 5000 mile oil changes, mobil 1 is more then good enough.

3000 mile oil changes is just wasteful imo, for your wallet and the enviroment.

5k for me with Mobil 1 as well with my 2JZGE and never an issue. Oil always looked good after 5k. I also drove hard usually.

I've been using lucas 5-30 for a while now, moble-1 filter. The car seems to like it. Time for an oil change in a month or so though.

hoonami 12-12-08 04:29 PM

i change it with mobil1 full synthetic 5w-30 and change it every 7500 or so

0w is way too thin, no wonder you used oil

Mobil1 Fully Synthetic 5W-30 gets very very thin with the heat generated by turbo cars.

A fair few people spin bearings in the turbo, and sometimes main bearings.

Recommend changing to Mobil Semi Synthetic 10W-30 or 10W-40 (is better)

My next door neighbour has over 40 years experience in engine building from 50hp - 3000hp supercharged, NA, NOS etc. bridge to bridge, ski boat, track cars, 10yrs top fuel engine mechanic, summernats HP heros, plane and truck, and your average daily.

"The more that people use non standard oil other than what is recommended for their car, the more it keeps me in business"

Just Mobil 1 weights of 5W30 and 0W40 did I have problems, but not with the Castrol 0W30.

I'd never toss Mobil 1 5W30 in any vehicle given the current formulation, especially not in a non-NA vehicle.

Uh huh. Mobil 1 Full Synthetic Extended Performance every 5-6k w/ Mobil 1 Oil Filter.

I've used a couple other brands, and a couple bux more every 5k is worth every penny. Plus peace of mind.

Mobil 1 all the way.
