92 sc400 oil change. need help!!

i have an 92 sc4 and ready to change my oil. what is needed to remove the engine shield on the bottom of the car? im assuming it needs to be removed in order to get to the oil plug and filter?

I'm assuming when you say "engine shield" you mean the plastic cover underneath the engine. The oil pan is out in the open but the cover needs to be removed to get to the filter.

What is needed:

Jack
10mm socket wrench
Your hands

hope this helps,

cheers

Too much stuff to do just to pull out the oil filter huh?

On an LS you simply remove 2 or 3 bolts & pull the shroud down.
No complete removal is necessary.

A piece of very nice tip.

If its anything like the LS, you don't need to remove the shield. They design it so changing the oil doesn't require removing 20 10mm bolts/screws. Would really get in the way for some jiffy lube places hehe.

On mine the shield ends just before the drain pan and plug, so its easy enough to get to it.

Don't forget to get a new gasket for the drain plug.
