I love it myself. Been using it for about 2 years now and not a single issue.

Many members of my track use Royal Purple, and I know of a few using it with 5W30 in Nissan motors. They have all found it a notch above the Mobil 1 they were using, even after a few oil changes.

Personally, I still like my German Castrol 0W30, though I hear they are going to reformulate it, and then I am likely to switch to Redline 5W20.

Too bad you can't find Pennzoil, as their Platinum is also a good oil over Mobil 1.

I would get German Castrol 0w-30, I never paid more than $5 a quart for PAO based synthetic oil. RP just too expensive.

I tried RP before. Made no difference over mobil 1 (at the time). If I had to buy oil in the $6+ league, it would be amsoil.

But I've recently switched to Pennzoil Platinum. It's cheap, readily available, and it's good enough for my car.

With the engine in your Lexus you can run any premium oil that meets Lexus recommendation and change at the recommended service interval and your engine will never have a oil related problem. But if it makes you feel good to use the best go to www.bobistheoilguy.com and use what works best based on all the UOA.

problem is that a lot of the times i drive short distance
so sometimes the trips are short enuf that ill be at my destination before the engine's temp is at the normal midway point (or slightly below mid point)

im gonna see how much royal purple 5w30 is and ask u guys again if it is worth it at the price

Has something happened to Mobil 1 synthetic? Its a pure synthetic right? I used to use RP in my mustang when i had it.. I remember getting the headgaskets replaced and the block was as clean as a whistle inside.. I guess switching to RP won't hurt anything right? BTW isn't the GS rated for 5w 30 anyway? thanks

Tony

Mobil 1 isn't 'pure' synthetic like they use to be. I stopped using mobil 1 in favor for something else since the premium price wasn't worth it for me.

Our car is rated for 5w-30. I just did my oil change two days ago with 5w-20 instead because my daily driving consists of heavy stop and go traffic, plus I only drive 4 miles round trip (2 in the morning, 2 at night) so my engine doesn't even have time to warm up
