Default Maintenance time for my SC430... HELP PLEASE!!!

So, I just passed 60,000 miles on my '02 SC430 and had the 60K miles service done. They told me that my rear brakes have 1.5mm left and I should replace them soon. They also told me there's a crack in the drive belt and that I need a new A/C filter.

So, heres the quote they gave me:

$260 for rear brakes
$105 for drive belt
$37 for A/C filter

Is this reasonable? The shop is great and quality of work is not an issue, but I am not a car guy and have no earthly idea what I should be paying. Anyone know of a better deal in the Dallas/Fort Worth area? THANKS IN ADVANCE!!

doesn't sound too bad - maybe a little high for the rear brakes though...

so long as it's premium stuff, not too bad... to give you a comparison, I show OE brakes as Ceramic, and a quality OE style replacement from Raybestos as $85 for the pads... we charge $118 labor for rear brakes, so if you were to walk into my shop I'd say around $200 plus taxes (includes turning rotors if needed)

drive belt is typically $30-$40 plus an hour labor, so thats right on track, and we also sell the cabin air filters for $35, so, you are pretty close to what an independent should be...

Definitely sounds fair to me. For standard maintenance items (other than an oil change), my general rule of thumb is somewhere between 2-3x what it would cost me to do it myself=perfectly reasonable. As mitsuguy put it, you're talking $160 in parts, so that puts you in the $320-480 range. Your quote is right at $402, exactly at 2.5x.

They're definitely not out to rip you off.

Where did you go to have the service done in DFW? Dealers or Independent shops? Mine has 55,000 and I am ready for a big charge from dealers.

Davenport Motors, Independent Lexus Service off of I-35 and Inwood Rd near downtown. (469) 916-2489I got them down to $370+tax for the 60K service, including rotate and balance tires. They did a good job, I'd go back. Tell them that Nayeem Mohammed sent you, maybe they'll give me a break next time.

Thank you for the infor. They also get a shop in Plano, which is very close to the Park Place Lexus. I will see where to go for the service when the time comes.
