hey guys im a newbie here, hope i post this in the right section. So, i just drove back home from work as usual and suddenly my 2006 is250 RWD lost its power and the vsc+trac lights went on. I still able to drive it back to home but whenever i stop in the traffic light i felt the car was going to dead and the sound of my hks exhaust is just so weak.
Just a note, i never had this problem with my is250 (75k mile)could it be, because of the HKS exhaust that i just installed a week ago??? im still using my stock air filter and changed my oil n all engine liquids/air filters regulary btw...
Any advice or tips pls?? Thanks

Sounds like you have an electrical problem... unless when installing the exhaust, they shorted a wire or something similar, I would have a hard time believing it was related to the exhaust...

I would start with a check of all fuses as a first start, and if you don't have much in the way of diagnostics ability, I'd recommend getting it to a dealer or someone you trust to diagnose... is the check engine light on as well? that may give some clues...

Your IS went into safe mode. Happened to me last year. The result was from carbon build up. Read through the following thread, there is a TSIB on one of the pages that applies to this particular issue if that is the case for your IS. GL

Could it have something to do with the O2 Sensor? perhaps damaged when being reloacted in the new exhaust? or overheated from welding something like that. Dont know how much of your exhaust you replaced.. but ^^ has been known to happen.

Thanks for the info guys but i think @suxelsi003 was right, i had the same exact issue with that recall thing (misfire on #3,etc)....but 2bad my car was at 75k mile, no warranty.
my auto shop guy charge me $600 for new battery, relay (idk what kind), catalytic converter,labor.
wat do u guys think?

I'd like to know what the reasoning for the catalytic converter, especially as they have a mandatory warranty of 8 years / 80k miles and, what relay - its important to know exactly what was done, just in case the same thing happens again.... The cat should have been free from the dealer if it was truly bad...

What is recommended for the carbon build up is a "top end cleaning" which equates to approx 5-6hrs labor. My technician also recommended an injector flush every 30,000km (18,xxx miles).

I personally also use seafoam every so often. It is questionable if whether or not it works, but for $9 a can, it shouldn't hurt to try... GL

Yeah it is likely upper carbon build up that causes 1 or more cylinders to misfire. I went through the exact same thing with my car, driving it across town slowly to the dealer wont hurt it, just go slow. IT IS covered by the power train warranty to 6 years/70K. Took about 7 hours to fix, cost without warranty at Lexus is $500 and some change
