Torque value for radiator plate?
I'm looking to change the coolant on my sc300 as the previous owner used the green coolant and I've read on this forum about how the green coolant will sludge up and destroy the engine.
Anyways, I see that there is a plate under the radiator protecting it and I was wondering 1) are there any precautions to be aware of when removing this plate? 2) what is the correct torque value for putting the plate back on? Thank you very much. JM |

JM good n tite but not too tite or else u snap the screw btw green coolant = ethalyne glycal = toyta/lexus red stuff ive used the red stuff in my honda. havent had any problems yet |
From the other posts in the maintenance section, it appears that green coolant is not designed for our engines and actually sludges up quite rapidly.
I know that the green coolant in my sc300 was serviced at an independent mechanic by the previous owner and it appears to be sludging up already despite only going 15k miles. I'm switching to Toyota Red or Pink ASAP to hopefully fix the sludge problem. As for the torque values, do you know what the actual values are? My FSM doesn't list them. I mean, I was going to just torque it down to "right" if I couldn't find anything, but I'd prefer to do it right. Thanks. JM |
