It would depend on who or where you purchase your fuel from. I fuel only from pumps with a fuel filter in the actual pump hose. But if I purchased from an old station with older pumps, no hose filter and old steel tanks, my fuel filter may be good for only a few years.... Then I would be replacing the entire fuel pump assembly.
