Default Repair Manual for 93 SC300

Hi,

I have a 1993 SC300 and I'd like to get a Lexus repair manual for it so I can get a better feel for the mechanics of the car. Anyways, I spotted the 1997 repair manual for the sc400/sc300 at a local used book store. Does the repair manual for 1997 also apply exactly to the 1993 SC300 or do I have to look for different year's repair manual? Also, how much is a fair price for these manuals?

Thanks a lot and I appreciate any help. Hope to find out more about this awesome car.

If you have high speed internet then you might want to do what I did.
Go to this Toyota/Lexus/Scion website where you can download any of the repair manuals you want. They have a couple of subscription options and I just did the one-day for $10 and saved all the pdf files for later use. The only thing I didn't like was that when you are saving the files the filenames are too generic to be helpful. Simply rename them as you save them to your computer. Then when you need something simply look it up and print it out.

Hope this helps,
Brad

Thanks a lot. I really appreciate it. Seems like a good idea. Just for reference, tho, do you know whether that 1997 repair manual is applicable to my 1993 sc300? I always find it nice to have some bound to hang on to, just the way I am I guess. I'll definitely sign up and save those PDF files , though. Thanks again.

So u can basically have a 100 dollar dealers manual on the pc in pdf file for 10 bucks? Is it hard to download them all at once? Is it one big file?

I believe it's more like $200 to get both volumes of the factory repair manual. So I too thought this was a great deal. As far as the files there are separate PDF's for each section. To the tune of 360 files for both electrical and mechanical with a total size of 28 MB. I have to stick with my previous statement that the worst part is having to re-name the files as you save them so that they can be recognized later. I also created file folders for each major category such as Maintenance, Coolant System, Brakes, etc.

There are differences in the 93 and 97, and in the procedures to do alot of things. The biggest problem though would be in the torquing of parts since theyre different specifacations year to year. But I would think even a 97 manual will help you alot , I too have a 93 SC300 and i would probably get it if i saw it at a bookstore .
Also i bought a 2 cd Mitchell repair manual that covers every model and year Lexus up til 2000. It was $20. from a seller on Craigslist. And its pretty good. Its pretty user friendly IMO for a computer based manual.
I also have a chilton import manual that covers every import 93-97 And its useful , it has about 80 pages of all the model s of Lexus. But its not as thorough as the cd manual.
I have an ancient printer, so i havnt printed very much yet, but if you have a decent printer it would be great. Also they have similar types for next to nothing on ebay. I chose this 1 because it was a local seller. I would still choose a printed factory manual , but this is a big help to me. Anyhow good luck
