Default 92 Es300 -- transmission fluid level

Hi, guys. When we check the transmission fluid level, shall we keep engine running? Or after warm up, turn off the engine for checking. I ask this question, because there is a big difference between these two approches. Comments are welcome.

To properly check the tranny fluid level, it is recommended to drive the car around for 5-10 min, stop off at some place like a gas station, park and shift thru all the levels on the shifter (P,R,N,D,2,L) and back to park, keep the engine running, and check the fluid level.
