90915-YZZD1 vs Mobil 1

I've searched through many threads and nobody has actually really compared these two filters. Which one do you guys recommend, the Toyota 90915-YZZD1 or the Mobil 1 brand?

I don't think you'll go wrong with the factory filter.

The Toyota 90915-YZZD1 was designed by Denso - a Japanese company that has supplied Toyota with
most of its filters and numerous other parts since the 1950's. Denso thus helped Toyota establish it's world renowned reputation for building the most reliable and durable cars in the world. Now If the Denso company did not exist and Toyotas were made with parts made by Bosch, Delco, Mopar, Motorcraft, Mobil, etc. what kind of car would a Toyota end up being? Answer: Just another unreliable and unexceptional car brand like Ford, Volkswagen, etc. If that unexceptional standard of reliability is good enough for you, then
feel free to use all the aftermarket parts, filters and fluids that are found in chain type auto parts stores.

I use the D3 with no problems.

Thanks for your input.

both are excellent filters and will perform the job required. I have used both. K&N Gold is also an equivalent filter.

in price it would be 90915< Mobil1 < K&N.

Just bear in mind the chances of having unexpected problems are increased when aftermarket filters are used because they are designed and made by Americans. Consider that even though Toyota and Honda have the best reputation in the world for making defect free products, once is a great while mistakes happen. Like about 10 years ago a batch of OEM Camry filters was bad resulting in a recall. And this past week Honda announced an oil filter recall.

Well there ya go! Neither OEM nor aftermarket filters are perfect. I'll stick with either the K&N or Mobil 1 oil filters.

Honda has been using Fram for a while. I made it a point to get only Filtech/Toyo Roki filters when I change the oil on my neighbor's Accord.

The 90915-20004, a true Japanese-quality Denso filter, is the way to go if you can still find them.

How do you tell between them these days? The info I have on differentiating between them is a couple years outdated.

Look on the filter. The Fram one says FRAM CANADA or HONEYWELL CANADA on it. The Filtech/Toyo Roki ones say FILTECH INC. or TOYO ROKI on them. Another way to find out is look for a small brown or black plastic button in the filter.

I use K&N oil filters in my cars, truck, and motorcycle. The best in my opinion!

I cut apart the filters in my camaro every time i change the oil, since i drag race it often. The construction and quality of the K&N filter is by far the best ive seen.
