What's the technical name for the things that hold the hood open?
I'm trying to help my mom out with her 97 LS400...the things that hold the hood open no longer do their job. Does anyone know the true name of them and what I should ask for when looking around? Also, what kind of ballpark am I looking to pay for them? Has anyone attempted to revalve them and had good results?

Check out this link on an LS and see what he did rather than pay the crazy price Lexus wanted for new struts for the hood.
