Where do I hook the thing? I'm fairly certain it goes to my car, but how?

Not sure where it would go on your LX. Is your's from Lexus, with instructions?

In my GS, I had to install small hooks. Temporarily removing the molding around the trunk opening, I then screwed in 4 hooks, replaced the molding, and set up the net.

The one I bought for my GS400 came with some brief instructions.

The bottom line is you pop off two of the round black plastic retainers at the inside top corners of the trunk opening -- one on each side of the trunk. I believe you can either unscrew them or just pop them off with a screwdriver or pliers. You won't need them again.

On the GS, the retainers used were the top ones on each corner. If you open the trunk and look back at the opening you'll see several of them holding the felt trunk liner in place. On the SUVs there are probably two similar plastic retainers in the same general place in your cargo area.

Removing the plastic retainer will reveal the threaded post it was attached to. You screw the two "T" brackets that come with the net onto the threaded posts. Then hook the loops on either side of the net to the T brackets and you're in business.

okay

I really appreciate the replies guys, I thought all of you didn't like me or somthing. It's genuine Lexus but no instructions, by retainers do you mean little plastic circular things? Cause My rear does have to of those where the door locks in. Thanks for all the help!

1. I don't know you well enough not to like you:)

2. Yes, the retainers are the little round black plastic things. Under the part you can see is a plastic cylinder. Those cylinders push down over the threaded metal posts (that you're going to screw the T brackets to).

I'll give it a shot...

Thanks Marty! So how is that passport 8500 treating you?

RealMarty 04-03-01 12:20 PM

Love it!!!!:D

Heard anything about the phantom, it's supposed to be a legal scrambler and radar, how good exactly is the Passport I need one!

RealMarty 04-03-01 06:21 PM

Don't know about the Phantom's performance, but there is an earlier thread about radar detectors and I believe one of the posts mentioned it. One thing to check out is whether it's legal. Anyway search the forum you should find it.

Also lots of info about the 8500 if you search on it. Bottom line for me is that it's extremely sensitive, easily programmed (to do things like not scan the X band -- thus eliminating lots of false alarms), field upgradable, has auto mute and it's a lot smaller and looks a lot better than the V1 (the other detector well thought of on the forum).
