hey guys,

i just bought a 93 sc300 (unfortunately manual) and i'm loving it! i've always loved it since high school and i thought it would be a good investment and a whole lot cheaper than getting a new accord or something, so i bought the sc. i've been reading up a lot in the forums and i hafta say that you guys are awesome... the knowledge base in here is great!

a couple of weeks ago, my a/c light started to blink and i read through all the posts about the a/c and the compressor. so i did the diagnostic and got a 00 - followed by the codes 22-27 when i stepped the diagnostic. 22 is the compressor lock sensor circuit and 23 is the pressure switch circuit. i don't know quite what to make of it and from reading the posts, i'm assuming i need a new compressor and clutch. i'm trying to do most of the work on this car myself (so far i've changed my shocks, my brake pads) so that i can learn how to do this stuff. so, i was wondering how hard it would be to install the compressor and clutch and if anybody had any resources on it that they could share. i've read that installing the compressor and clutch is not that big of a deal, but that i should go to an a/c shop to have the system evac'ed and refilled. does anybody know how much that should run me? and since my car is on r-12 coolant and i'm getting a new compressor, could i just fill up with r-134 or do i need to change a lot of other things as well?

thanks guys!!! any help or comments would be greatly appreciated!!!

here's a pic of my baby!

What do you mean UNFORTUNATELY MANUAL????
People spend months trying to find a 5spd SC. You have, IMO, the best type of SC.

Nice car, sorry I dont know anything about the compressor.

Almost ALWAYS a new compressor when that happens. 90%+

Wow, a 5 spd SC, a rare car and a lot of people wants this for a turbo project.
To remove the compressor. You'll have to drain the coolant about 1/2 gallon to remove the radiator upper hose and then remove the drive belt. I've found the easiest way is use a big flat head screw driver and pry on the belt tensioner to loose the belt.
Then remove/unbolt the PS pump and swing it on the side( not completely remove, just get it out of the way without remove any PS hose).
Then remove the compessor, but the tricky part is trying to get the compressor out of the car, because one of the strut that hold the compressor in place will be on the way. You will need an inverse torx bit to remove the strut or you can fight wilh it until its come out.
Then, remove the 10mm bolt fromt he clutch, shim and 2 snap rings.
After all these instructions, I recomenend to get it done by professional:D The AC job can be tricky sometimes. Good luck!
