Default New 2025 LX issues

Bought a new 2025 LX600 F Sport. It had 6 miles when we picked it up end of March. Unfortunately, it's been in the shop for the last couple of week. What's surprising is the attitude of the service department, which we've been using for over 10 years with a RX and GX. They've had turnover and now their attitude is seems combative and "not their problem". Surprising that we spend more on a car and the quality of service goes down to the point we are thinking we need to find another service department or sell our LX. We've had Lexus cars for over 30 years and have been very happy with them until now.

Here's the issues we've had:

1. Discovered the sunroof leaks in the car wash. When we dropped off the car at the local lexus service dept, the service tech said it was a significant leak and we were lucky it didn't damage anything. The tech also also said they had another new LX with the same problem. Then a few days later we were told the sunroof would take 2-3 weeks to get in. Just now, they told us to pick up the car. They tested and said Lexus cars aren't designed to not leak with a high pressure wash so they won't fix it. Not sure why we had multiple calls and they said there was a problem. I said we've been using the same car wash with our other lexus cars and never had any problem. The service guy got testy with me and said Lexus designs their cars this way ... didn't want to listen to me any further about this.

2. We had something poking through the front passenger seat (bottom) and were afraid it would poke through the leather. They said they ordered another seat.

3. The speedometer doesn't match the cruise control speed you set it at. When we're on a level highway, going a constant speed, the speedometer is 1mph lower than the cruise control setting. The gps is the same as the setting. We've always had lexus cars where they matched. This service department said the speed could be different with different tires and driving conditions. I said I understood if we were going up or down a hill. But compared to other cars, our speedometer was off and I wanted it changed. I also told them the wheels were stock - what was delivered from the factory. Our LX is an F sport. Do any other f sport owners have this problem? This is crazy. They told me Lexus allows the speedometers to be 10% off .. being off 4 mph is not an issue for them and they won't fix it ... On a brand new vehicle. I would pay to fix this (even though I feel like I shouldn't have to) but they refuse to address this.

4. We have other problems with rattling noise and other things which they could copy so we'll have to deal with that later.

5. I purchased the platinum service plan. First time I ever purchased a service plan. Never again. We had about 2800 miles on the car and wanted to go a on trip which would put over 6K miles on the car. Given the problems with the engine for the 23/24 LX and the claims of shavings in the engine from their manufacturing, I wanted an oil change as a cautionary measure. I was told they wouldn't cover it with either the new car or platinum service plan. They only cover oil changes every 10K miles. So, I had to pay to get the oil change. Crazy that I had to fight them to give me an oil change whether I paid for it or not.

Overall, this has not been the lexus experience we're used to. I don't know if it's cause our dealer has new service dept leaders (which I believe they had some turnover), or if this is the Lexus company's new way of doing business.

Would be interested to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues with their LX and Lexus service.

Sorry you’re going through this. I had the same experience with our lexus dealership for my 2025 Premium. It had a kick sensor issue while it was at their delivery garage. We took the car anyways because we’ve been there way too long and it was getting late. We came back a week later to have it looked and that’s when it alls started. Would be way too long to write to describe what happened. They got it fixed but not after some exchanges. I left there wondering where I should take my car for routine services.

Lexus corporate will help if you make a case with them.

The problem with the engine manufacturing process where shavings were not cleared from some engines, is endemic to the 2022 and the very very earliest 2023 model year LX600s. NOT 2023 and 2024 models.

Please please please don’t perpetuate incorrect information on this.

I’ve posted on this time and time again to try to set the record straight, per the official Lexus and NHTSA documents. Please see this post for the correct information, all in one place.

I dont have an LX but a 23 GX460 I purchased new.
Same issues with oil changes. I had to pay for an oil change due to the 10k mile factory interval.
Battery died with only two years on it in December 24.
I changed the battery and the screen was dead when I started the car.
They said because I changed the battery and did not bring it in to Lexus, I had to pay the $3000 to replace the head unit.
Good thing I called my insurance company and they paid for it.
Seems like they are a different company nowadays.

He is right about one thing though, the 0-20 is **** oil and change it immediately to 5-30 or 0-30. I wouldn’t even drive it off the lot with 0-20 in it.

Completely agree. We will have 5W-30 specified (I will INSIST on this with the service advisor) for all oil changes. If the dealership won’t honor my demand on this, I’ll just do all oil changes myself.

0W-anything is a joke, in any engine, IMHO.

i would definite push corp on the first issue.

the third issue is a toyota thing for eons, always off by a factor of one or two. Other mfgs have been fined for this due to mileage discrepancies, and no longer do this.

5) honestly no idea. until newer lx600 owners start having issue, v35a is reliable now. Newer tundras still have issues but different engine factory.
you can run uoas to establish trends, buy a lexus extended warranty and then hope. However if the issue persists, no step up in grade will prevent failure. That being said, any engine wears less stepping up a grade. If you live below freezing run 0w30, if not run 5w/10w30
just make sure its a low saps oil to prevent low speed preignition.

My speedometer on my Fsport ran exact, maybe a little slow actually.

My after market tires are a hair shorter and I didn’t think I would mess with it. Maybe I will check gps with the new tires against speedometer sometime.

4/2024 build.

Thanks for everyone's comments & advice. Also, didn't know about the 0-20 oil ... didn't know they made such a product. I noted they put in synthetic but didn't pay attention to the type of oil they used.

In talking more with the dealer, they were the ones that wanted to fix the sunroofs on 2 of the new LX's they had in the shop (including ours). Lexus corporate told them they couldn't and explained that they were not designed to withstand high pressure washes. I asked the dealer if it was warranteed against water leaks in a high wind rain storm and he said yes (though that hasn't been cleared with corp yet). So, if/when we get a leak in a hard rain storm, I need to video the leaks and they'll take it up again with corporate.

In the meantime, I'm going to see exactly what type of oil they used.

Thanks!
Ken

They used 0-20.

They had to adjust the additive package and the different surfaces for the camry engine to accommodate the excess wear going to a thinner oil. Hence if we look at any v35a manual in all the world markets i have yet to see anything below 0w20 (eventually they will make changes one can assume). They do allow all weights down to a 0W for fhe cold range, all the way fo a 30 in the hot range.

Fortunately, neither. The sunroof is just like the 7 other lexus cars we've had ... never had a leak in the car wash until now. Had a 2002 LX and that never had an issue over 250K miles. BTW - used the same car wash for 3 other recent lexus cars (including their rental) and haven't had any leaks.
