Siri Eyes Free and USB in 2015 LX
Couple of iPhone and USB questions for the experts:
Is Siri Eyes Free (2015 LX) still compatible with today’s generation of iPhones?
Does Siri Eyes Free still work as advertised, i.e.: hit “push to talk” on the steering wheel to talk to Siri assuming you iPhone is plugged into the USB? Does your iPhone have to be plugged into the USB for Siri Eyes Free to work or can it simply be connected via BT to work?
I’m wondering how owners manage cords to minimize a cluttered look. I can only find a single USB in the 2015 LX, which lives in a little compartment just to the side of the transmission shifter . Are there any others? Is there a 12v, USB or other power point in the ashtray just forward of the shifter? What about in the glove box? Or, in the second row?
Thanks

I have an iPhone X and 2015 LX and it works as it was designed. It certainly is not as integrated as a system with Apple CarPlay by any means. But is is functional. No, you don't have to be plugged into USB for it to work. However, there may or may not be some additional functionality that I'm not aware of if you plug in your phone. I generally use it for making calls and short text messages with mixed results. I have my phone on a Magnet Mount wireless Qi charger as shown in the picture. It seems to be the best setup I've found so far. Lately, I've been experimenting with the Enform apps, but am not too pleased with them. It's much easier to use the Bluetooth player setting and operate streaming apps from the iPhone in its mount. Hope this helps some.

A couple of things,
1. You have to push and hold the phone answer button to activate Siri Eyes Free. Not the talk switch. That's for talking to the car itself, like in putting in directions. And no you do not have to be plugged in for it to work.
2. I would not suggest using the USB to charge your phone. If you have the iPhone plugged directly into the USB, it goes into "iPod mode". Which the car thinks you are trying to use the phone wired and wirelessly. It can interfere with BT functionality. Using the setup MagnumP45 has won't have the same effect since he's using a Qi charger. However that 12v port puts out more juice than the USB port and will charge your phone faster. The USB is meant as a dedicated iPod or USB thumb drive port to play music.
