Default LX door light ad

My new-to-me 2018 LX570 has lights built into the bottom of the driver and passenger doors that illuminate the ground when the doors are opened. Nice feature.

However, my lights have something built in that filters the light and causes "Treasure Coast Lexus" (must have been the dealership that sold the car new) to be shown on the ground. Not a nice feature.

I pulled the drivers side light fixture out of the door and couldn't see anything easily removable. Is this common? Similar to dealers sticking a license plate holder with their logo??

How to I remove this?

Thanks,

Bob

First of all - congratulations on your new LX - you are going to love it.

What you described are commonly known as 'projector ghost door lights' or 'courtesy lights' (there are many names for it). You will need to remove the entire light that is currently installed by dealer and swap it with the stock lights. Or if you want to have the one that is according to your taste, there is a whole market out there for such lights. It's usually not an expansive item and costs under $50. I have custom installed on my LS that project Lexus Monogram.

Here is a quick link from ebay to get you started:

If you don't want to get into much hassle, just ask the dealer to get you the stock door lights and you can install them yourself.

Good luck!

I was able to solve the problem. There is an insert in the fixture that holds a lens that created this pattern. I removed the insert, took the lens out and it is, I believe, back to original. I now have a clear, well defined 52" pool of light below the door.

This picture shows the fixture dangling from the door. To the left of the green bulb is the insert I referenced. This slides out and the lens is sandwiched between the layers of the insert. It took 2 minutes to pop the fixture out, pull out the insert, drop the lens and reinsert it. No tools required.

Nice. Well, that's another way of doing it. Your dealership's marketing departments is really putting some effort. Hope you are enjoying your new vehicle.
