What diy service manuals do you guys use? And AK LX truck adventure
Im coming from a BMW X5 and the first thing I purchased after buying the BMW was a Bently Publishers service manual. I have used it many many times...I am getting ready to do an oil change on the LX and was thinking I should probably get one. Bently Publishers does not make one that I have found for Lexus, so wanted to see what you guys have found useful? I like to do most of the work on my cars as possible, one, because it's "fun" (I keep telling myself that, then when I'm bleeding from my knuckles from underneath the vehicle I start to question my life choices), and two, I have saved a TON of money over the years doing things myself.
Little backstory, I have had the 2014 LX 570 for just over a year now. It's my first Lexus and absolutley love it. Drove it to Alaska from Colorado for work. Lived there for a year, bought a rooftop tent road tripped around Alaska. Just got back to Colorado a couple weeks ago finishing a 5,000 mile trip back from Anchorage through state parks and everything in between, took two weeks. Can't wait to do it again coolest drive ever. Also had 0 problems with the LX the entire time, not one thing... Now that im back in CO, can't believe how many old LX's and Land Cruisers I have seen, gives me peace of mind that old ones are still on the road and going strong!
Sorry for going on a tangent but wanted to share my experiences with this cool truck over the first year of ownership. Have a good weekend, and thank you in advance for any info you may have!

I'm a long-time BMW CCA guy, currently maintaining an e28 bought new by me and now with over 300K miles. Like you, I have found the Bentley manual to be the best read for us hack mechanics (thanks to Rob Siegel and his many years writing a column in Roundel magazine by that name)..
For the Lexus vehicles I have owned since my first in 2003 there is nothing even close to a Bentley manual. I depend on various internet forums. There is even more great information on forums devoted to the LXs almost identical twin, the Toyota Land Cruiser. For the engine, the almost same if not identically powered Toyota Tundra sites are useful. And, a search of youtube videos often turns up some good info related to maintenance and modifications. Things I've found there have helped immensely when doing towing related things - like wiring a brake controller and replacing the tiny side mirrors with decent towing mirrors, or removing the third row seats completely for added cargo space.

The AK pictures are beautiful...the Alcan highway is on our bucket list.
Toyota dropped printed manuals in the North American market after 2010. Toyota's online system remains as TIS (Toyota Information System); it's prior name was "TechStream". You can go online and sign up and pay Toyota by the day, month, or year...not inexpensive. You can check Amazon for bootleg copies of TIS along with a cable that runs from your OBDII connector to a laptop or tablet.
I'd check here 200 Series Shop Manual. Be aware that a 2016 manual download is 40gB...around 6000+ pages.
I'd also not think twice about joining ih8mud.com...FAR more off the beaten track trips and DIY maintenance.

Best I've online LX manual I've found is linked here, but it's for a 2010. It's a bit disorganized but the menu on the left side of the page can get you where needed. LX 200 series ism
I checked Helm Inc. for the electric wiring diagram (EWD) manual for an LX...none available. Take a look on eBay and see if you can find one for your model year. Info there is invaluable to track down strange electrical issues, and / or help you a bunch if you're adding accessories. I found one for my '13 Land Cruiser there...~ $250 but well worth it as a time saver.

I was using OP's '14 as an example.. color coded and all apparently there. I've noticed you may have to go back a model year or so for whatever you are looking up to get complete list. '10-'13 GX 460 for example you have to look at 2010.
Just an example showing there some info.

What year LC were you looking up? I see a lot of wiring diagrams for a 2013.

The screenshots I did were for a '14 LX 570 but went and and saw a lot of diagrams for the '13 LC as well. I just went back in and it would appear all diagrams for a '13 & '14 LC are there as well. If you want me to do a screen capture video I will. :-)
