Hello all,

I am new to this forum but am a long time lurker. I would love some advice on what to look for in a 2013 - 2015 LX570. I know the usual: 1 owner, milage vs. year, service records, etc... Wondering if those that have purchased could describe their buying process (what they did or wish they would have done) and how the vehicle has served them thus far.

Currently have a Jeep GC and are looking to trade in a 2016 Maxima. We have 2 kids and great dane and when the wife is using the Jeep, the Maxima doesn't cut it :-) Started looking at LC's and then realized the LX570's are more prevalent and typically cheaper. Thanks in advance and appreciate any input you can donate to the thread.

I found my 200 series on the internet...cannot remember which site, but cargurus or similar. I'd looked for a few months same as you for 1 owner, spotless maintenance records, no reported accidents, etc. I found a 2013 at a Porsche / Audi dealer in Spokane, WA. Called dealer the same day ad appeared, negotiated a bit and agreed on price. Flew from Boise to Spokane the next morning.

Test drove the truck for ~ 2 hours including a bit of off-road familiar to the sales guy. Stopped at supermarket U.S. Bank office and picked up a check. Drove back and gave it to the F & I guy and after telling him I'd walk if he asked me about an extended warranty for the 4th time. Got my paperwork and a temporary Washington paper plate and drove her home.

After removing the rear seats, I had a post-purchase inspection done at LTS Motors in Boise. $100 later, no issues were found.

Found my (now my wife's) 100 series in the spring of 2009 on Craigslist. 1st owner was MD in Bend, OR. Full maintenance records, pre-purchase inspection was spotless. 1st owner insisted on cash, so I asked a neighbor, an Idaho state trooper, if he's like to ride up with me to get the truck. We left the next day, trip up and trip back in the new to me LX were perfect.

I cannot think of anything I would have done differently. LC's are generally more expensive used...Toyota currently exports around twice as many LX's as they do LC's to the north American market.

She's a 2001, mileage was 85K, so ripe for a 90K service with timing belt, water pump, plugs, just to mention a few.

Two years ago I bought my 2013 LX 570 from Cadillac dealership, it had 21,000 miles on the clock, one owner lease car, it was very clean and paid $58k for it. In two years no issues what so ever besides regular maintenance, now it has 31,000 miles and CarMax appraised it at $44,000 recently after telling me that it was a super clean well maintained car. Check maintenance records online for any potential buy by using VIN Number.

I just purchased a 2013 LX570 (wanted the 2013-2015 body style as the new body style didn't do it for me) and found one in PA and had it shipped to Oregon. I purchased it without test driving one and I'm very happy with the purchase. I'm moving up from a 2007 LX470 that I loved so I was comfortable with Lexus brand (if the LX470 had technology that was upgradable i.e. better Bluetooth capabilities, stream online music, better navigation, etc. I would have kept the LX470. It would be nice if a screen such as an iPad can replace the whole center console of the LX470 and can control the stereo, climate and etc.).

One thing that made the transaction run smoothly is that I purchased it from a Lexus dealer. When it arrived it was detailed and looked like a new car. The only issue I had was with the transport company, because it's winter, not too many truck drivers wanted to drive to Central Oregon. Therefore the delivery was bit delayed and the truck driver was a total a**hole. But the LX570 arrived safely.

In the past 15 years or so I purchased many cars all over the country and had great luck. To make the transaction smooth, a lot depends on the seller...make sure they're not your typical used car salesman. Find someone professional and the transaction should be smooth. (BTW I purchased my LX470 from New Jersey from a private party without issues.) If I were to do it again, buy nationally and have it transported, I would hold off on buying during winter months due to potential transport issues with the roads.

I, too, spent about 3 months looking around for a 14-15 LX. Finally decided to go w/ a CPO one from a Lexus dealership that's about 380 miles from where I live. Never saw / drove the car at all. Had facetime w/ the sales manager, also purchased extended warranty which covers the truck till 2026 w/ unlimited mileage and 0 deductible. Transportation was arranged and vehicle detailed. One thing I tried to stay away from would be buying cars from snow belt states (Rust concern). Otherwise service history at dealership would be important. Took delivery of vehicle last November..... So far drove about 6700mi (yes..a little bit too much I guess) so far but cannot resist such an addictive vehicle. The only thing I would prefer would be the 3rd row seat to have a deeper floor board so average adult's knee won't have to raise up toe the chest, and the trunk space to have extra 5 inches would be perfect! Right now I can fit only 1 suit case place sideways behind the 3rd seat w/ a carry on next to it. A bit too small (I can fro ma mini van). Everything else is awesome!!!

I bought my 2011 about 3 months ago. I'm in Chicago but I found it in Texas. I had a 3rd party PPI done ($125) and it came back perfect. Wired the money and the salesman even drove the car to me in 22 hours!

The resale value for the LX speaks for itself. I bought a CPO 1 owner LX 2 years ago for 56k. 20,000 miles and 2 years later and I can't find anything good on Autotrader under $45k for a comparable, non certified low mile 2013, and most of them have more miles than mine.

I'm no stranger to buying nice cars from shady places (including my previous immaculate LS460). But I bought my LX570 from a local Lexus dealer about a month ago because it was the best car I had found up to that point, with lowish (66k) miles, good service history, and immaculate condition inside and out. The experience was not what you'd expect from the tales of awesome service you hear from Lexus dealers, but it got the job done. Part of the problem was that the dealer was disorganized. They claimed to have done a 60,000 mile service (which includes, among other things, AHC fluid replacement), but the only record of it was a bare "60,000 Mile Service" entry in the online service history. I took the car to my independent mechanic, who actually confirmed that all the specified work had been done. Then there was the no-holds-barred death battle of a negotiation, including two theatrical walks out of the dealership, that was required to get them to a somewhat reasonable price ($39k). Oh well, I've got a good truck now. The indy, a longtime Toyota specialist who modifies everything from AE86s to LC80s in his spare time, found absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I just upgraded from my 2000 Jeep GC to a 2014 LX last week. wanted to find one with minimal or no undercarriage corrosion. I was seriously considering a 2010 that looked great on the outside but had quite a bit of rust on the undercarriage when I saw it on the lift during the Pre-Purchase Insection, it was originally from OH.
The rear backing plates were so rusted the dealer I took it to said the need to be replaced was 'urgent' and the best price I could find is about $500 each for the backing plates.
The second biggest thing I wanted to have checked is to make sure the AHC was working and in good shape since this can be expensive to fix, not sure how expensive though since doesn't seem like many have had to have been replaced.



I ended up buying this 2014, transferred to Denver CarMax from Murietta, CA

I'm looking at a cpo 2017 with under 30k miles. It's about 250 miles from me and I plan to call the sales manager tomorrow to see if they'll negotiate. What is a reasonable price to aim for?
