Default Snow wheels and tires

Got an 18 inch wheel package from tire rack for the winter. Took it to the dealer to install. After a few hours I got a phone call that the service manager won’t allow them to be installed because using a different size rim would throw off the traction control systems and ABS. Took it to Tires Plus and they installed it without a problem. Im assuming tire rack wouldnt sell a “recommended package” picked out for the car if it wasn’t compatible.

Anybody think the dealer had some truth to their story?

No.

In the future, no need to pay a dealer or tire shop to install a wheel/tire package, you can do it yourself easily following the manual.

good looking wheels and tires no dealers tend not to do anything that is not OEM because of potential liability they just rather be safe than sorry

My dealer did not have any problems installing 18" Land Cruiser Wheels. BTW, I would prefer 18" OEM Land Cruiser wheels (can be purchased on ebay quite cheap) over any aftermarket wheels.

I don't understand the "potential liability' part...my 2013 200 series 18" wheels are OEM. My advice would be to find a new / better dealer.

$200 and my local Lexus / Toyota dealer got me zero-mile Tundra 18" take-off's with lug nuts and hub caps. Bought a set of Blizzak iirc DM-V2's which are great in the winter.
