Pros of the 2017 LC vs the LX. Due to the front and rear bumper design on the new face of the LX, it has worse approach and departure angles. If you don't care about that than I guess it doesn't matter.
The interior on the LX is significantly nicer than the Cruiser. You need to see it in person to appreciate it.

I currently own a '13 Land Cruiser...
Pros...the Cruiser's KDSS system gives more articulation than the LX AHC system.
...more clearance with approach angles than the LX with its "snow plow" nose.
...more towing capacity with the Cruiser.
Cons...Not as "luxurious" as the LX, but you pay for that with extra weight on the LX.
...For those who think their self-worth is based on the car or truck they drive, the LX apparently remains THE choice. Don't believe me? Stick around here for a while.
...AHC allows changes in ride stiffness, handy on a washboard road if in fact the LX ever happens to see off-road activities.
Other than that, both the Land Cruiser and the LX are made on the same dedicated assembly line at Toyota Auto Body. Both are assembled in Japan with 100% Japanese content.

Apparently I put my self worth into a vehicle because I have a '14 LX. Of course this is an LX forum so I guess you're not surprised? I also have a '08 LC so I may be confused. The LX is as capable as the LC and the height control makes towing a lot easier because the LC needs air bags or an alternate to tow. The LX is a lot nicer inside and I can't comment on the electronics because of the age difference but the LC lags way behind my '08 in ride and creature comforts. The KDSS may be an asset if you do a lot of rock crawling but the minor difference between LC and LX articulation is irrelevant in normal 4x4 operation. If I was buying a vehicle to remain mostly stock it would be a LX without a doubt. And you do get used to the bling pretty quick. I put 200,000 miles on the LC (Vancouver Island to Lethbridge, Alberta and Seattle to Dawson, Yukon) and about 1200 on the LX so far a jaunt to Inuvik inside the Arctic Circle next.

It turns out that this isn't the case: Per Four Wheeler's testing the LX and LC rack up nigh-identical RTI scores, 542 to 538.

The OP is asking for 13/14s specifically, not 16/17s so that's what we should be comparing.
Contrary to what has been said by a few here, a 13/14 LX actually has better approach and departure angles because of the AHC. It also has nearly identical articulation. It also rides better because of AVS. You'd only need to replace the wheels and tires and the LX would be a better off roader than the LC. It has a nicer interior as well.
The LC has higher towing and load capacities. It's also lighter, easier and cheaper to modify for off roading. It also comes with 18" wheels which are more appropriate for off roading. It's a bit cheaper to maintain a well.
I went for the LX specifically for the capability of the AHC/AVS. I read a lot about it and it's just such an impressive system. It's definitely a few steps above the KDSS system.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the feedback. 80-100k a little too rich for me, but thinking I can get a solid 3 or 4 year-old LC/LX that has been well cared for at a more manageable price...
