Thumbs up 2011 LX 570 Radiator

I have a 2011 Lexux LX 570 with a tiny slow pressure leak at the top. Do you feel it is necessary I buy OEM? Where do you recommend I buy the part?

Thank you for your help!

A good radiator shop might be able to repair the leak. I would not worry so much about OEM if I had to replace.

Thank you. I am going to take it to another shop to see if they can repair it before I commit to buying an entire new one. It is a very slow leak.

I would get a few estimates depending on the size of your town. Price can vary.

I have not taken it to a radiator place but after doing some research it looks like I might as well fix it correctly as its really just a band aid. The OEM radiator itself will cost about $300. My mechanic will charge about $350 for the labor. Toyota dealership quoted me at about $900 all in and Lexus was $1,050. Before taxes whew....

Two weeks ago Toyota dealership replaced a radiator on my daughter's 2013 Venza. The price was $771 (fortunately fully covered by an extended warranty). So it's about the same considering that LX radiator is probably more expensive.

So my next questions are Does it matter if you use OEM radiator fluid? Also how many gallons are needed to fill a brand new radiator?

Thank you!

Radiator is a little over $300. http://www.lexussouthatlantaparts.co...640050382.html At that price, I'd definitely consider a diy job. Lots of space to work in and apparently no special tools required. Msrp is $400-ish. Depending upon mileage and feel, I might also replace upper and lower hoses since they need removal to install the radiator anyway.

[spoonfeed mode] You've got a truck worth close to $100K new. You can go to your local parts store and buy generic coolant...same with cheap oil, brake fluid, etc. I would recommend Toyota Super Long Life Coolant, but that's just me...I tend not to scrimp on vital fluids for either the LX or Land Cruiser as both are paid for. Capacity is 17.6 quarts, so you can divide by 4 to get gallons. The stuff is pre-mixed 55% coolant with 45% H2O. I change coolant every 2 years, ymmv. Maybe try checking Section 6 of the owners manual if your google is broken. [/spoonfeed mode]
