I'm coming from a LS460, and am in the market for a large SUV. So far I drove the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90. Today I tried out the LX570 and was really impressed. The Lexus just feels like its in a totally different league, and has such a solid drive.

Anyways, I wanted pricing advice on a CPO 2013-2014 LX570. What price should I aim for? Should I look at trucks in other states? Is the refreshed 2016+ models that much different/improved compared to the 2013/2014?

Not sure of the price but they are in great demand. If you find a good one better act quick as they have very good resale values.

Take a look on the websites for used cars and see what you find. You can log onto the lexus owners group at lexus.com, input the vin, and see any services at a Lexus dealer beginning with new truck delivery.

I'm in Idaho, last 200 series I found to my liking took about 4 months of searching. Toyota exports ~3000 to North America, in addition to ~4000 Land Cruisers, the parent of the LX.

I found the truck in Spokane, WA. Flew up next day, got a certified check, and drove her home. I'd definitely look west of the Mississippi, avoid states that use salt on roads during the winter, e.g. Utah. You want a truck with original owners(s) afflicted with ocd for maintenance. You want pictures of the underside with splash plates removed to check for rust. IMO you definitely want a pre-purchase inspection (ppi) done by a shop not a party to the transaction. Just basic Used Trucks 101.

I checked about 5-6 cars for sale websites daily while I was looking, as well maintained low mileage trucks go quick, usually for cash. Have your financing act 100% together.

Be advised before you start looking that patience is a virtue if you're looking for a clean Cruiser or LX.

The '16 has the snow-plow grill...not really timeless styling compared to the 100 or 80 series, imo.

As a rough guideline, check out Carmax prices on those and then add a couple grand for Lexus certification from a Lexus dealer

Do the 2016+ trucks drive the same? Is the interior space the same?

IMHO, the 2016 rides smoother and quieter and the interior space is the same but the interior quality is way improved. I still lust after that 2016 SUV but other priorities have taken over. Maybe next year.

As a LS owner here, no other SUV I've test driven compares to the LX/LC. Looking for a smooth supple ride with unquestionable reliability, the LX is ahead of the competition. My wife is in this decision right now, comparing a 13-14 LX (which we've seen CPO's in the low-mid $50s), but once she got into a 16, it was a quick decision made. The upgrades to the interior especially on the technology front sold her; keep in mind that the LX/LC would be a vehicle that she (and I assume you) would be keeping for a number of years, the outdated technology in a 13-15 LX becomes painfully clear once you get in a 16.

I also don't think the price difference warrants "settling" for a pre-2016 model. We've found CPO 2016 LX's in the high $70s (as a comparison, CPO 2015 LX's are in the mid $60s). If you can afford to wait, the 2016 LX's will continue to drop in price or consider seriously a 2016 Landcruiser (you can get those in the high $60s with almost the same features minus AHC and a few interior creature comforts like middle row visors, HUD).

16+ LX/LC is the way to go, imho

Last year I bought a 2015. Now, after having it a year, I do wish we would have purchased the 2016. It's not the exterior difference, but, the interior and safety differences. I want BSM, RCTA, the 2nd row shades for the kids, the 360 camera, the air/heat adjuster in the 2nd row armrest. We have tried to sell our 2015, but, have not had any interest. I honestly don't know if I will get a 2016 LX, the 2018 Honda Odyssey or wait for the RX L. I have a 2004 RX that has been so good to me, it is such a great car, that is why I stayed with Lexus. I had a down payment and an Order for the Volvo XC90, but, was spooked with all of the complaints on swedespeed. So, I cancelled the order and bought the LX. Good luck to you. It is a beautiful vehicle, inside and out.

Well that's an easy choice. And you'll get a completely unbiased answer on the Lexus forum.

LX is more exclusive (rarer), more unique (hydraulic suspension), and much more capable.
Engine choices are completely different. Turbocharged and supercharged 4 cylinder OR naturally aspirated 5.7L V8. Easy choice.

Only real, significant benefit to the XC I can think of is fuel economy. Oh, and the crystal glass shifter on the most expensive model

2014 LX570 would last probably much longer than new XC90 and would have a higher reliability:-)
But I cannot recommend LX570 to anyone who does not need it for offroading or towing. In my opinion, it simply does not make any sense to buy an SUV with a frame and solid rear axle just for driving on highways.

I drove an LX570 briefly and it was the only vehicle that could meet or exceed the comfort and overall feel of my LS460.

After driving the new Q7 and XC90, and then stepping back into my 8-year-old LS460 was an eye-opener. My car felt so much more refined, comfortable, and balanced in comparison.

I need a longer test drive of the LX. By the way, do any of you recommend that I look at a particular LX in socal?

I wouldn't tend to limit my search geographically...my Land Cruiser was an hour and $65 for a 1-way ticket north of me...drive home was fantastic but took around 10 hours...a combination of heavy smoke from fires, a 3-day Washington state temporary tag on the back window, and the Oregon state police attitude, generally, about out of state plates and 2 mph over the limit.

My LX was around a 6 hour drive from Boise to Bend, OR. Toyota only brings in ~3000 or so LX's to all of north America. Have your financing locked down and grab one with low miles and good maintenance records...check the 200 series FAQ for much more detail at ih8mud.com. Clean 200's go very quickly given supply and demand.

As someone who is in the exact same position as you are (considering LX vs XC) consider also driving the 17 Q7, all-new remodeled design. The Audi has respectable reliability though it likely won't be able to touch the LX.

I like the XC90 because of the technology, the comfort (yes..comfort) of the 3rd row seats, arguably the quality of the interior is better than the LX and you can get a CPO 16 XC90 for $20k-$30k less than a 16 LX with better gas mileage. Their Inscription trim is pretty good value and the car looks sharp. A great people hauler.
I like the LX570 because of the reliability, the dealership experience (not saying Volvo is bad) and resale value. Ride quality is also "plusher" than the non-air-suspension XC90.
Consider the 2017 Q7 because it has received stellar reviews, is also technologically superior compared to the LX570 and you can get a new decently equipped model in the $60s.

That said, drive each one....my wife refuses to consider anything but the LX however.
