Perhaps. One of my friends says that I have "expensive tastes" like his mom (who also has a LX). But my friend is not a hater -- he's thrilled that I made the purchase.

HAh we live in a country where impracticality thrives. As long as you like it and enjoy it, why not - right?

On the way to work I see a bunch of drivers in Suburban's and Yukon's being the only person in the car....and this would be over a 30-40 mile commute to Dallas at 18mpg.

The LX is downright reliable (just like your LS), an extremely wonderful ride. Enjoy it!!

I don't think you're purchase was impractical at all. I bought mine after it was just me and 2 dogs. Practically, the LX allows you to see traffic far ahead, avoid the worst part of road spray from big rigs, allows you to shop at multiple locations on one outing, and you can drive it for days on end across country and never feel road fatigue or have a tired rear end. And, friends are always impressed with the ride and the silence in the cabin when you deign to take them along. Plus, it won't ever let you down -- unless you decide to use the active height control. Saw the pics on your other post; looks gorgeous inside and out.

No.

2 cars for yourself is one more than you need, but I would have the same setup if it was feasible...lol.
I might have kept my ES if I didn't need the equity!

If you don't regularly transport 6+, don't forget to take out the third row to make your LX a true cargo hauler (and save 115 pounds of weight) for increased practicality.

OP, I think any opinions on practicality should come from the user. Whether or not I think it's practical for you is immaterial. I'm with ccj4...I'm happy with me and a couple of dogs and a bunch of dead pheasants in the back. Just as pleased with wife on a road trip or a week or 2 off road. Congratulations.

Why not. As Nike says, Just DO IT. If you can afford it and still be financially responsible and "fit", the go all out. Especially if all this is a business deduction.

One thing will soon be clear to you as you drive the LX more and more....... There is NOTHING on earth that comes even close to the LX in terms of delivering the OVERALL PACKAGE BETTER, PERIOD. Sure, some other SUV will be quicker, more HP, more flashy, more "pedigree", and etc. None will have the OVERALL PACKAGE BETTER THAN THE LX. The LX has NO PEERS out there. The LX is truly the KING OF THE SUV's.

Enjoy life.

I am single and have owned multiple LX units. Some have never seen anyone in the back seat. Could go a month without anyone in the passenger seat. My LX has no regrets.

i really feel quite safe with my 6000lb LX wrapped around me and it is worth every dollar.

Congrats! I believe if you can handle the price, it is the best all around car on the road. I have the exact LX as you and my wife and I are very happy with our choice. It is too big and not logical, but l hate hybrids and love the luxury.

Enjoy!

If OP needs LX for whatever reason and could afford it, by all means. I always get vehicles of
my choice with cash. Never took out a loan to get a car. Drive it for the warranty period, trade it
in for another choice. From new year we are paying carbon tax attached to gasoline at pump.

Is it impractical? Yes.

Does it matter? No.

The LS is impractical too for a single driver. If we all bought what was "practical" most of us would be driving small subcompact cars.

I did my share of that years ago. Now all grown up and own their own Lexus and BMW, now live just far enough away where we do not get in each other's way.

No more impractical than many similarly priced vehicles, such as a Porsche Carrera. Just don't expect the LX to be a chick magnet, unless you drive it around with an attractive canine hanging its head out of the window. Eventually though, you'll need to sell the dog because it doesn't get along with her cat. Bottom line is to buy what you want and can afford while there's still time.

While I do have a family and we use it together on vacations, most of the LX's use finds me driving it alone to work. I use it about half the week, as I feel guilty about putting too many miles on the P-car I drive the other half of the week.

It's all perspective. Just do what makes you happy.
