Default New Car Brake-in Period

I haven't read the manual cover to cover yet, but I am curious as to how you handle the break-in period of your brand new LX? Did you baby it under 60 mph for the first 1000 miles? Did you off road immediately and broke it hard with various redlining and serious off roads?

Not much to break in for new vehicles these days. More like common sense
For the first 200 miles (300 km):
- Avoid sudden stops.
For the first 500 miles (800 km):
- Do not tow a trailer.
For the first 1000 miles (1600 km):
- Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
- Avoid sudden acceleration.
- Do not drive continuously in low gears.
- Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

Bimmer32, did not you get the truck for some time ? So it has been in your garage ever since you bought it.

It's suppose to be my wife's vehicle, but she's driving my older BMW e60 instead of the LX. It still has less than 500 miles, and it seems to be all around great SUV. The seats are great, and we plan on a few minor fun off road trips in the near future . . . something you cannot do with a regular car. I was just wondering how long you have to "break it in" before doing mild off roads. It would be a fun for the kids to experience as well since we live in the flat plains the gulf coast.
