Rear Overhead Interior LED Change Out - Part# 4
Good evening. If you have done steps 1-3 of my LED interior change out, you are ready for this one. We are now at the last overhead light. It is the rear one. It uses a different bulb all together and it a little more difficult. This light uses a Festoon bulb. I purchased these Yorkim ones on Amazon- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 - You get 4 in a pack. I ran into a problem with these Festoon bulbs because they are a little bigger in diameter. They did not want to clip in there very well. So I had to make adjustments. I would recommend using a different company. Maybe vleds to avoid having to fiddle with it. I had to take down not only the cover, but the whole light. Maybe using a different bulb company would avoid having to take down the whole light. I will give this a 2 beer job. Here we go!!!...
1) You will need a small flat head screw driver and possible a plastic paint spatula to pry down the whole unit.
2) Pry off the plastic cover and replace the festoon bulb with an LED one. The overhead light is two pieces after the cover is off. If you apply too much pressure installing the new bulb, one piece will pop up in the headliner. It is not broken, just separated. You will need to pry down the whole unit at this point. Simply uses your plastic spatula to do this. It will pop down.
3) Reinstall everything pushing up the unit into the headliner firmly.
Here are a few pictures.....
