Yakima Megawarrior
I had a moment and installed the yakima megawarrior.
I went MW because I thought that the smaller loadwarrior might not "look right"; and I wanted as much room as possible without hatch or moonroof interference.
I decided against a permanent mount. The MW gives me a chance to remove it in winter when I don't expect to need it, but might like indoor parking from time to time. I can also guage how much I use it and how I use it. If I don't need more than the 130lb capacity or space, then I can stick with the MW. If I need more space - I can get the extension.
While I would prefer "enclosed" storage, I carry carry a variety of really "dirty" cargo - chainsaws, shovels, gas, propane, and I don't want that stuff "inside" anything, it just needs to be quickly rinsed after and done with.
I really like the fact that the front and rear bars are "standard" yakima bars. You can mount pretty much all of your existing attachments. Yakima includes a 3rd bar in case the front to back spread it too far (it likely is for many attachments).
The front fairing it attached with 3 thumb screw "snap-arounds". This means that it's easy to loosen them and fold the fairing forward in order to a) load something long b) easily attach devices to the front bar.
I also grabbed the stretch net. I found that invaluable on a previous rack.
Initial complaints: the 8-thumb screws - 2 for each corner. I'd like to see an easy handclamp or something like inside the yakima skybox cargo boxes ( I have one of these as well ).
MW Dimensions: L 44.00” x W 39.00” x H 6.50” Weight 25lb carries 140LB (LX Rack max is approx 130?)
MW Extension Dimensions: L 18.00” x W 39.00” x H 6.50” Weight +7lb for 32 total, must be subtracted from total rack carrying capacity.
