Default L4 get stuck

I have lx570 and I went to cross in Deseret ,I used L4 to get out of difficult situation
after that I tried to turn the L4 off but It wouldn't respond ,I toke the car to the dealer and he said
that the L4 actuator get damaged and you need to replace and the cost was about (1450 US).

So has anyone change the actuator and how much it cost ?!

They said It get damaged because it didn't used for a long time and suddenly used ,so did anyone disagree with this theory ?!

You should explore the same question on ih8mud. com. which is a far more technical forum.

I could go either way on the dealer's theory. I do try to exercise low-range once a month or 2, at least until it warms up here a bit.

Check this for desert driving in Africa...Series 200 desert driving

I agree with Matt's suggestion to ask the question on the 200-Series forum on ih8mud.com

this does happen. its well known with most 4x4s that if you don't use the feature for a long time it can get stuck in place
