Default Clunk or thud on my Lexus 09'LX570.

Hello every one … I’m a new Lexus owner and new to this great forum as well . I’m experiencing a clunk or thud on my 09’LX570 when stopping and taking off. Took the car to the Lexus agency and they told me it’s a common manufacturer problem with 08’ and 09’ Lexus LX570 and it can be fixed by greasing or replacing the rear propeller shaft with a new one. Initially, they did the greasing two times but it didn’t help so they went with replacing the shaft and it didn’t fix the problem either. The agency did the greasing again and again but the problem still there without a clear fix.

I was wondering if any of 08’/09’ Lexus LX570 owners has experienced the same and has this problem fixed in his vehicle ??

Thanks in advance !

31 veiws and 0 replys !!!

I'm sure that someone has experinced this annyoing problem. It would be benefical if it's shared here since the local dealer "did every thing they could, and have to live with it" , lexus dealer said.

Please advise !

This was a common problem with GX470...you would think that Toyota/Lexus would have fixed it with the new LX!

We are all on the same boat.

Neiter lexus nor Toyota would accept that there is a problem with their noisey adaptive rear shaft..

They just would not admit it..

I second your comment (LexusLX). At the beginning of the problem, Lexus agency acted like it’s not a problem and it can go away by greasing. They were trying to convince me to live with it and it was intentionally designed like that. Of course I didn’t buy whatever they said, a little pressure from my side and it turned out that there is a fix and hopefully this problem won’t come back again.

Regards,

had the same problem on my LX570 2010. Took it to the dealer and he recognized the problem quick and said this is a common problem. They did the greasing which reduced the sound but i returned it in the same day it was getting on my nerves even it was not loud.
dealer replaced the rear propeller shaft with a new one and the problem is gone. yes Plucky now i feel like driving a Lexus

the question is! when it is a common problem why don't they check cars before selling
