Currently and in the past I have/had cars with both HID and (obviously) regular halogen. Not to go against the current here, but I found that the HID does not necessarily constitute a better light automatically. My current non-HID truck has better lighting than the current german job with the HIDs. Take for what its worth.

Also my eyes seem to work better with slightly warmer spectrum of the halogen, allowing see better and father. The HID do look cooler though.

just to get some perspective (the MB GL550 was my second choice when I was looking at vehicles), I read through some of the MB GL forums - there are a lot of very unhappy MB GL campers over there. no regrets with going with the 570.
