Unhappy LX570 Not starting - Urgent Help Please!!!

Hello everyone,

I drive a 2009 LX570 (only 100k miles). Haven't driven a lot since the pandemic, well actually not at all in last 6 months. last week had to give it a boost to start and everything worked fine thereafter.

Today morning, I tried starting but low battery again, lights dimming, i gave it another boost. Lights became bright again, i tried the ignition switch and NOTHING!. No click or crank. Everything is working, radio, light etc with the boost of course but not starting. After reading half the manual and had the battery boost on for 1/2 hr, i gave up and towed to the mechanic.

Mechanic, checked all the fuses, the relay, starter. Everything's fine but no ignition. He spent couple of hours trying all the tricks. I saw him even manually getting in the car with key as he thought it might be a tech glitch. Even removed the battery terminals to reset but no ignition. Every time we press the paddle, green light pop ups and press the ignition switch, only hear A FAINT buzzing sound.

Eventually, the mechanic went underneath and tried some of his trick, and finally it started cranking but still no start. He got tired and told me that he feels that somehow, the ECU MODULE IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THE SHIFTING MODULE (went way over my head). And suggested that tomorrow morning, we might have to put in a new module and reprogram which concerns me A LOTT so i WANT ALL YOUR INPUTS.

Also, FYI, i recently replaced the front blower motor, now the front blower is not working, any relation to ^^^ (Ignition)??.

PLEASE HELP!!!

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

About 5 yrs so I got it replaced today! Now the lock light or I guess the immobilizer light is flashing but still not starting. Mechanic said he tried with the fob but nothing. I guess the immobilizer is blocking the ignition. Any idea on bypassing that or reseting that?

thanks

If the immobilizer light is flashing it is in anti-theft mode. Lock the car w/ the power lock button on the LF inner door switch. Then unlock w/ the fob. If that does not work relock the car w/ the inner switch & unlock w/ the metal key in the outer door lock cylinder. Now - a - days you need to use a back up power supply during battery replacement. If not, all kind of non-sense occurs due to various computers being reset from the battery disconnect & you end up w/ this kind of stuff. After too many attempts @ starting, the car will go into full lock out & you need a factory / real scan tool to reset the system.

Thanks for your input! Will give that a shot today. But have tried number of different ways of locking and unlocking the vehicle but still no response. Yesterday the mechanic was able to start the engine by bypassing but not through the actual procedure. At least that rules out bunch off stuff. Today he will attempt to reprogram both the keys and see if that makes any difference. Pls let me know if you could think of anything else!

Starter is common problem. Look up starter issues on ihatemud forum. You are at the year and mileage where the starter solenoid goes out.

I had a similar problem. With mine it was water ingress that corroded the connections behind the kick panels on both sides. The passenger side was the last one. My seat heater lights on with the engine off were the first indicators.

That was the first thing he checked. He said the starter, relay and all the fuses are fine. I made him check the fuses in the engine compartment as well as the driver and the passenger side. He said his scanner is showing ECU shifter lock. Haven’t had any sifting problems. According to him, the ECU and the shifter module are not able to communicate.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would check that out tomorrow. The only thing that went off was the front fan right after I replaced the blower motor. Don’t know if that would have anything to do with the engine start.
