So my dad bought a used 08 Lexus LX570 last year with only 50K miles on it. After we bought the car, we brought it into the shop to get the brake pads replaced. Somehow while doing the brake job, the cv boot busted out and there was grease leak everywhere. They agreed to replace the cv boots both inner and outer for us and do the alignment.
After getting everything replaced and aligned, the steering wheel was off and they told me they couldn’t align this car correctly. So I took it to the Toyota dealership (note that we are about 2 hours away from the nearest Lexus dealership otherwise we would bring it to Lexus). At Toyota dealership, they told the toe camber of this car was negative ( I don’t remember exactly what they said because I’m not familiar with cars) and they have corrected this issue by realignment. After that, the steering wheel is dead center and a car drives as it should.
Recently, my dad notices that the front tires inner were extensively wear out compare to the outer. So we took it in a Toyota Dealership for oil change and have them take a look. Since the state inspection is coming up and we decided to do this as well. The car passed emission test but failed the state inspection since they told me the front tires inner wear out to the secondary rubber and it’s not safe to pass the inspection. Note that the rear tires are perfectly fine and wear out evenly. After checking everything, the toyota dealership told us the reason for this is the toe camber were off again and redo the alignment. They also rotated the rear tires up front to see if this problem still occurs.
About 3 weeks later, I climbed under the car and see that the front tires now starting to wear unevenly so I’m starting to think that this is not the alignment issue. I have attached the pictures of both front and rear tires right now. We don’t care about these tires since we’re going to replace them anyway but we don’t want the new set to wear unevenly like this one. The first pic is the front tires and the second is the rear tires.
Sorry for the long post but I’m just tryig to explain my situation thoroughly so anyone has experienced this issue in the past can easily help us out.
Did the Toyota dealership give you a specs print out sheets showing BEFORE and AFTER alignment with DETAIL numbers indicating ALL FOUR corners?
Our 2013 with OEM tires suffered the same problem after about 20K miles. The uneven wear on the tires were technically not safe anymore so we replaced ALL four tires with new tires and headed to a FIRESTONE store (they did our other Lexus vehicles without any problems, RX450h and RCF and CT200h). However as soon as they put our LX570 on the rack the technician was shaking his head and lowered the LX570 down and said he does not know how to do it. He really did not explain why except to say that the LX570's ACTIVE suspension was moving and he just could not do it bc it's "too complicated" . I did not force the issue so I took it to a local Toyota dealership (the Lexus DEALERSHIP was too far away). The Toyota dealership did it without any problems and gave me printouts to show me BEFORE and AFTER settings.

I uploaded the pictures of alignment. The first 2 pics are right after they replaced the inner and outer axle boots. The last one Is the most recent one.
I just got back from the dealership. They told me the alignment was off so they had to align it again. Will have a new set of tires put on this week. Will see how it goes. Thank you all for your help!
Make sure you get the print outs for BEFORE and AFTER.
Also it is BETTER to do the alignment with NEW tires on the vehicle.
Also ask how long they warranty the alignment. Usually like 90 days.

Make sure that the alignment is being done with the car at the normal level. Once when I had an alignment done at an Indy they failed to understand that the car lowered when it was turned off. The result was not good. Turn off the automatic lowering before you take it to even a Toyota dealer. When I was shopping LC vs LX the Toyota people had never seen or heard of an LX lower automatically when turned off. Several come out from dealership to watch it perform.
This is the alignment sheet they gave me after the alignment was done. They told me if there’s any problem they will reperform the service at no charge. I’ll have a new set of tires install this week, we will see how it goes.
Oh, now I remembered why the Firestone shop refused to do my LX, but did all my other Lexus vehicles (they will not do ANY MB's either).
BC when the technician got out of the LX on the rack, my LX automatically lowered and he shoke his head and said NO can do!!!
