Default New lx570 owner!

Our 2006 Honda Odyssey Touring transmission quit on us at 164,000 so we wanted a four wheel drive SUV that we can take to the Sierra a couple times a year. We did considered an 2017 Acura MDX, Infiniti QX60, Mercedes Gls450/550, but am glad we chose the LX570. I've only owned it for 5 days, but already driven 1,100 miles. It drives super smooth on the freeway and the steering feels great, good feedback. Can't believe it''s home with us. What I mean is that I can't believe I spent that much. Was planning on spending only 30-40k!

Congrats!

I bought a new '17 two days ago. Like you, I considered a few other SUVs including a Porsche Cayenne, Porsche Macan, Acura MDX, Audi Q7, and the GL 450/550. But, of course, the LX570 stands apart from the pack.

But, like you, I still cannot believe that I spent so much money! Well, the plan is to keep it for a long time!

That's exactly our plan too. I have four kids and we needed at least 6+ seats. We drove a couple of used ones, 2010, 2013, and they drive really nice but the wife couldn't stand the stain, smell, scratches on the wood trimming, etc so we decided to take the plunge. Plus, the dash and interior of the 2017 is just amazing! I know...just another excuse to buy brand new. Enjoy your ride. It is something special on the road.

I forgot to mention that I quickly ruled out the GX460. It just doesn't seem as refined as the LX.

OP - Congrats. It looks beautiful.

You shouldn't compare the GX to the LX when there is about $30,000 different. Of course MOST of us GX owners would like to have the LX but 30 large is big change.

Congrats, bdn. White is beautiful for the LX color. I was going to get a white but the "silver lining" was more practical for me. I am too lazy to wash it for a deserve White color. When I retire and have someone to wash my cars, white will be the color of choice. I concerned the GX too, but we wanted the room in the back for storage and the accustom to lift gate vs. the side gate.

Thanks Bimmer32. Before we got to the dealer, I wanted white but after seeing other colors, wife suggested that Atomic Silver was really unique and nice too. We almost decided on Nebula Gray Pearl too. We spent a good hour and half deciding on the color but am glad we chose white. White is very classy and elegant. It also makes the car look bigger than it actually is. White is not that difficult to keep clean plus if there's a nick or scratch, it's quite easy to hide with touch-up, hopefully that won't happen anytime soon. Also, we wanted something different from the silver GS350 and the silver SL55 that we owned.

Congrats!! Looks great. I just bought my 2017 silver in November and I am very happy with it. Like you I felt it was too much money, but I believe it is the nicest thing on the road.

enjoy

Thanks Bear000! It is a lot of money when you think about it. We could have bought a nice used LX and still had money left over to buy a brand new Honda Odyssey Elite, in my case. Enjoy your car! It feels solid like a vault driving on the highway. Great visibility and very quiet.

I don't understand why people still by the Landcruiser when for a few bucks more you get a much nicer vehicle.

My friend bought a new Black Landcruiser for $100k+ and he doesn't even get a loaner car.

Congrats!

Yes, I know the feeling. Back when we bought our new 2013 LX570, some of our friends and relatives just can't wrap their heads around the fact that why spend so much on the LX570 versus like a Toyota Sienna minivan or a Honda Odyssey minivan at less than half the price. I guess one HAS to drive the LX570 to find out.

Also just to let you know the LC/LX reliability and utility is legendary. Our last 2000 LX470 (original owner) when we traded in for the new 2013 LX570 had 280K+ trouble free miles.

Just follow the routine maintenance schedule and you will be fine.

Enjoy the LX570☺☺☺☺☺

12 years ago, my wife and I looked at a LC sticker price and laugh because we thought it was ridiculous for anyone to buy a Toyota at that price. 12 years later, we bought new LX and laugh at ourselves for thinking that way 12 years ago. For an off road capable vehicle and luxury, the LX has it all for a relatively good price compared to the current market offerings. Reliability is icing on the cake.

I'd like to meet your buddy who paid more than 100k for a LandCruiser. I've got some land in Chula Vista I want to sell him.
