Default lx470 or lx570??

I owned both and Lx470 2006 which I traded in for a 08 LX570; the 570 was traded in for an rx350. wife always thought that the 570 was just too big for her. I drive a ls460 now but I am thinking to pick up a LX pretty soon. I am looking at few of the LX570 and then I saw 2 late models lx470 and man I just love the look of that car. they both feel solid but for some weird reason I like the look of the 470 better. but I also know older cars would always have more issues / probably need suspension work and bushing and all the rubber gets old. what would you guys do? from a price point I am limited to around 55k; I know the 570 got a refresh but those are in the 80s range still.

I also prefer the look of the lx470 to the lx570 but I have to admit the LX570 is growing on me especially the older ones, not the ones with the stupid catfish grill Lexus is doing on all it's vehicles. If you're dead set on the LX470, just find a really nice one for well under 20k. Put 5k into if necessary for suspension or seats or whatever, and you're still way under your 55k budget with a solid vehicle in every way.

for me though I'll probably start looking at older LX570s in 3-5 yrs.....they are nice vehicles with vastly superior navigation, electronics etc....

I bought a low mileage '13 Land Cruiser two years ago. One local owner, maintained better than the book, and a trade-in on a new Cayman at a Porsche / Audi dealer in Spokane. I wrote a check for $48K-ish including Idaho registration and taxes. That was the best deal I could find west of the Rockies and the same price or less than similar LXs I checked out.

I REALLY like the 5.7 engine. MPG is similar to our '01 LX but extra displacement and the 6-speed transmission allows the Cruiser to really scoot. Car and Driver showed 0-60mph times under 7 seconds...and that's for a 3-ton truck. Otoh, the 100 series has fewer blind spots and an overall (imo) better view of the road given an overall lower belt line. I think that's part of wifes feeling it's "just too big"; that said, side-by-side in the garage overall size is almost identical between the 100 and 200. Outside cameras are nice on the Cruiser off-road, as is the Crawl feature.

UZ214, to me it's flip a coin. You can put a ton of new rubber into a later model 100 and generally baseline it overall for less than a 200. As to styling, I agree completely. Be willing to travel on short notice once you find a good one of either type...good ones go fast.. Todmorrs post below is dead on about the newer snow plow grill.

the 5.7 engine is really good, I towed a full grown tree out of my yard about 28ft to a forest area near me; I was just shocked. I took the lx570 through some crazy snow storms with all season tires; there was once a road closed near my home due to power wires down / major snow and the back road wasn't plowed. there were few suvs just stuck or waiting for the back road way to be cleared. you couldn't even see the road ahead due the wind blowing snow up in the air, I went right thought using the front camera it was pretty awesome. The 470 is almost as good, I don't like the plastic wheel wells in the 570, vs all open in the 470.

the 470 are sort of up there for the price, there are few under 06 + years with less or around100k for more than 20k while the kkb is about 15ish for a very good condition one. I really want to get the newer 570 but they are just too much money. I would love a 06+ 470 for under 15k. these cars really hold their value;
