Default 2006 Key Issues

Long time reader, first time poster. Have enjoyed this board for the last few months when I purchased my 2006 LX.

However, I am having a key issue. Since I bought the vehicle, both key sets have been loose and come apart almost daily causing the battery to sometimes fall out. I've dealt with it as a minor inconvenience thus far. Yesterday, though, my wife last one of the batterys in the yard and it has all but disappeared forever. Went to start the car this morning with the key that had no battery...and the starter kept clicking but never sparked the engine. Thought for sue I was about to have to call a tow truck as it was an alternator. BUT, I just thought on a whim to try the other key that had a battery and it cranked right up like a charm.

Has anyone else had this issue? If so, how did you correct? It is only a matter of time before I lose my other key battery...

Thanks in advance!

https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/3d-...shells.925571/ is a link to a thread on mud for very cool replacement shells for the remote control part of your key.

The issue is that without a battery the key can't connect with the engine immobilizer ecu. The functional result is that the starter will turn but the engine won't start. Iirc, batteries are type 2032, available at my local supermarket if I want to pay through the nose, or on amazon cheap. The oem shells can be tightened with a small phillips screwdriver, but if they're stripped you will need a new shell.

Just to update here, I have a new version that integrates the key. Check it out: https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/yot...-sale.1003495/

I'm also offering Toyota/Lexus color-matching, so if anyone wants to have a shell match their exact paint code, that's an option. I'd attach a photo, but I'm still too new here, so you'll have to check the link on mud for now!

*edit, also link to the site with all colors pictured on one page: http://yotamd.com/products/key_fob/Titanium3button.html
