Default Upgrading to (06+) LED tail lights, can't figure it out, LX470

I have an 01 LX470 and am trying to upgrade the tail lights to the "06 LED tail lights". I have researched this all morning and can't find a definitive answer. My units are not plug and play. I have no idea what i should do in order to get them to work. Hell the turn signal bulbs don't even line up properly. Does this mean i need to get a new relay or do i need to do some splicing? I have included pictures for you guys. I am sorry if this is beating a dead horse but i truly cannot find this answer anywhere. Im hoping this will help me.

OKKK,

The rear inside lights do not fit. the inner edge overlays on the gate too much. Any idea what i should do? I can't imagine being stuck with my old rinky dink ones. Is there a company out there that retrofits those 07 LEDs for the 01 body style?

I'd post the question on the 100 series forum on MUD, but I think you are, as they say, somewhat up the creek. You should be able to get some info from the retrofit source (advertiser/mud member).

I'm driving the same truck you are, and my "rinky dink ones" seem to work just fine. My issue with lighting was more for the headlights, but that's a very simple issue to fix.

hth

Todd, I used 50 watt HID H1 bulbs for the low beams and 9011 HIR bulbs for the highs.

The low beam HID's make the stock 9005 high beams superfluous, but the HIR's in the high beam holes give me a lot of light past the HID's. HID's are 6000 degrees K.

The low beams run off a relay connected directly to the battery and triggered by the oem headlight sockets.

I also replaced the fog lights with HID bulbs without a relay...35 watts and 4300 degrees K.

HID bulbs are from DDM Tuning, HIR's for the high beams from Amazon.

hth, and pm or email me from here if you need more info.

great....am going to look at doing this. I have a slight fogging of the light lens due to age, typical stuff, but even if I treat that with the Sylvania lens resto kit I don't think it will restore that much brightness..

Post how it turns out for you.

I just re-did foggy lenses on wife's Ram 2500 horse-hauler, results were spectacular. I used 3M's heavy duty kit, about $30 at local Auto Zone.

I'm thankful wife's LX has glass lenses.
