LX 470 rear bulb replacement
I need to replace the right rear tail light bulb in a 1999 LX 470, but can't figure out how to access the bulb compartment. The lens cover does not screw off from the outside (like my old Landcruiser did), and I can't see a readily apparent method to access the compartment from the interior of the rear of the vehicle. I feel like an idiot not being able to replace a light bulb (how many lawyers does it take to replace a light bulb?), but would also like to avoid taking it to a dealer for something so basic. Anyone who can help?

if it is the light on the gate, just pull on and remove the carpeted area on the inside of the gate to find a grey panel with 3 or 4 screws, remove that panel then you will have access the back of the bulb.
if it is the light on the body there are screws on the inside that are accessible only when the gate is down.
I hope this helps.

Dang, how ironic. I went in to the dealer today to have the left rear buld replaced! It was under warranty but too bad I didn't watch closer. I normally would have done it myself but this Lexus dealer is on the way to work. In & out time of 15 minutes. Can't complain.
