I've got a 2007 LX470 and need tires really bad. All the places I have called say that the Michelin Latitude tires for the size of 275-60 R18 are on a nationwide back order, or are not available anymore. Not sure what the problem is, but all the tires shops say that this tires is just not a very popular tire. Anyway, the local Discount tire store told me that they can get some top of the line Michelin tires for me in a day or two, but the tire size will be 275-65 R18, where as I currently have the 275-60 size tire. Is there a problem with putting the 65 tire on my LX? Are there any other tire recommendations out there that I should be investigating?

My personal favorite is 285x65. I've run it for 10 years by now. Works for me.

Thanks Alex...so a little taller tire (the 65) should be just fine to use on the LX. I'll get those ones then.

i believe 285-65-18 is max you can run without running ahc bypass(lift).

I purchased the so-called "best tires" Michelin Latitudes for my LX470 only to find out through my Lexus dealer the tires were "choppy" and that with 13K miles on them. I contacted the dealer where I bought my Michelins and long story short, Michelin was unable to give me a good refund for their crappy tire.

With the terrible customer service they gave me, I felt they threw me under the bus when I had purchased their product for over $1100.00. and gave me nothing in return.

So I reasearched and spoke to various professionals in the car/tire industry and they all pointed to Hankook tires. I bought them, had them installed on my LX470 and I absolutely love them. They are rated number 2 on the market behind Michelin but are gaining ground fast. They cost a fraction of what Michelins cost.

I am now a forever Hankook fan and due to my personal experience with my other Lexus cars on Hankooks, they are a far better performing tire. People, do your research and you will find out the same I did. Hankooks - a much better tire at a fraction of the cost with a 65K mile rated tread.

I don't know about that specific Michelin you are speaking of but I have used Michelin LTX M/S's on my vehicles. I just bought a 2002 LX470 and much to my pleasure it had what appeared to be pretty new LTX M/S's already on it. I have to say I love this tire and have not had a problem with them. Just something to consider.

I had very good experience with the LTX as well. Pirelli Scorpion AT as well if you ever consider light off-roading. A bit more on the rougher/noisier side in comparison to the very "hush" LTX'es, but gave more traction on the snow and a lot more off-road.

I've got 285/75/18s on the 2000. 285/65/18 will fit no problem, but will slightly modify your speedo reading.

If you're thinking a light duty off-road tire, but still proper road manors and not much increase(if any) in road noise, Toyo Open Country ATs, 285/60/18 fit no problem, I've got them on my other LX.

I have a 2000 LX 470. The standard tire size is 275 70 R16.
Will any of the following tires sizes fit (without a lift):

285 75 R16
305 70 R16
295 75 R16

305 75s are the absolute maximum.

I've been running 285s with no issue. Double check your speedo reading with a gps system as you may see a slight difference due to tire diameter. Our '01 reads around 5 mph slow at 65 mph...that was officially verified by a Nevada state trooper last year. No ticket. Just advised me that my larger tires were causing a speedo error...which I was aware of.

The Pirelli Scorpion in 265 60 18 is extremely smooth, quiet, and comfortable. I have my second set on my wifes's LX470 and have been very pleased. Much less expensive than the Michelin's.

After around 80K or so, the Toyo Its were replaced with newer ATIIs. Both sets were 10 ply, load range E. Imo an LT tire is a necessity if you're off the road much and / or if you're pulling a trailer.
