Default 00 LX470 Starting Problem

Having read Volman's 8-8-11 post with the same title, I believe my problem might be different.

Here is what happened when I tried to start the LX this a.m.:

1st: nothing but a click
2nd: click
3rd: nothing
4th: the slightest attempt to turn over
5th: nothing
6th: started like it normally does without any question or hesitation

It appears that the sea foam fuel additive solved Volman's problem. I am willing to try that but just wanted to check with you all first to see if you have any suggestions. I have no skill in this area and would be most grateful for any help!

Thank you,
Mike

Have you checked the battery first? make sure the connections are tight.

Thank you for the suggestion, Hey Johnny. I did check the connections. The one on the left has some white-powder corrosion which I scraped off and another guy looked at it and said the connection is tight. He seems to think the problem is "further up the line" and asked if I had a "check engine" light on which I don't.

If you have any other suggestions, I would appreciate them. Thanks again.

Conclusion for the record: took to Lexus where starter was deemed dead which also impacted the battery. New starter and battery: $1240. Next time will take it to local mechanic.
