I did a search on this forum awhile back trying to find out some info on hard wiring a radar detector. I didn’t have much luck so I’m sharing my feedback after completing.

First, I decided to install a Blinder Laser Jammer M47 and while at it, installed a direct wired radar detector.

Driving in the Washington, DC metro area (Virginia) has it’s challenges, laws and bad traffic!

When I can speed, it’s usually on the interstate commuting via VA, MD, DE. Concealment is a priority in Virginia.

I installed this after receiving feedback and doing a lot of research. Hardest part was running the (4) wires from the head units through the firewall and mounting the jammer switch discretely on the console. I came through the passenger side of the firewall through an existing grommet. Neatly wrapped all the cords and placed behind the carpet on the passenger side. CPU is mounted near center console with easy access to update via connecting a USB cable when new software updates are released

I ran power from the driver’s side fuse box, used the only empty fuse slot (accessory). Wired the radar detector power line to this as well, ran the cable up the left support column, under the front of the headliner The detector is mounted just to the left of the rear view mirror and aimed just below the tint. This is the best placement for a radar detector.

I was able to mount the (4) sensors without cutting/altering the grill and bumper. Tried to maintain an OEM look. The Blinder M47 has a mode called park assist. This provides audible alerts for objects directly in front of the vehicle when parking. Nice addition to the rear camera.

So far so good.

Very nice, i wanted to do the same thing, but couldn't stomach the 3 grand the installer wanted, so i paid 500 and got a 9500 xi instead. Very nice, tell use how well it works when you have a chance
