How do they compare with regards to retaining their value? The F350 is less in initial cost, but with similar mileage and condition, how does the comparison fall? I also have a hard time seeing a consumer cross shopping these two vehicles. A really big HD pickup vs a luxury suv...yeah, no.

2001 LX470 400k miles
$16,915 retail excellent condition

2001 Ford F350 Crew Cab 400k miles (GAS)
$10,160 retail excellent condition

2001 Ford F350 Crew Cab 400K miles (Diesel)
$14,895 Retail excellent condition

These are from KBB. I would think after a certain mileage the figures become a little useless....who in their right mind would pay this for either truck with 400k miles on it?

Default Mileage + In Tucson Arizona

I must be the luckiest 05 GX470 owner in the US! I bought my 05 GX470 1 week ago with 92k miles. It just had the 90k service including timing belt and plugs. I drove my first tank of gas, all city driving here in Tucson Az. and then refilled the tank. Car computer said 17.5mpg which matched my math by dividing the miles driven by the Gallons required to refill!

We humans are doomed to strive for perfection and would never achieve it.....at peak of SOMEWHAT perfection our civilization dis appears aonly to start over again....I ,being an engineer, tried my hands on YOU name it automobile....NONE are perfectly designed.....Engine and transmission is only 30% of the auto...LX has the best of it but other 70% is UNDER engineered.

UNDER engineered allows Toyota a life cycle on the 200 Series of 20 years and >250K miles...and that design cycle is independent of location, assuming routine maintenance is addressed on time, more or less.
