Default real world gas mileage

I just traded my 1998 LS400 for a 2001 LX470. For those that have had their LX470 for a while, I would be interested in some gas mileage figures that cover the various day to day driving such as local as well as mielage from a long trip on the interstate. The sales manager at the dealer said he routinely gets 15mpg average on his LX. So far I haven't seen that number. Thanks in advance.

With my Land Cruiser, I get about 14-16mpg in suburban driving, meaning few lights with occasional dealings with traffic. I did just recently take a 360 mile round trip vacation and the onboard computer was calculating 16+mpg.

Then again, the '03-'04 LX/Land Cruisers have the 5 speed tranny which would help with highway mileage.

My '99 seems to get about 12 mpg with half and half highway and suburbs

Default Gas mileage...

My 2000 LX470 gets about 12 mpg around town. I live at the top of a 1,000 ft hill that surely hurts it.

I get about 16 mpg on the highway.

I get between 8 and 10 mpg when I am pulling my 4,500 lb. traler.

I get about 14mpg with a mix of highway and in-town driving. I get 16-17mpg on long trips with cruise control at 70-75mph even with 33" tires and luggage. I drove a 1,000 mile trip a few months back and average 17.xx on that trip with just luggage and 2 adults. I got 12-13mpg on the return trip (1,000mi) with the largest u-haul trailer (tandem axle) packed and the LX packed. All of this was done on 33" tires as well. I kept every receipt and wrote my mileage on each so its a pretty accurate measurement for my vehicle. MPG can vary a good bit though even between vehicles of the same make.

Default Gas Mileage

I own a 2004 LX and the only word I would use to describe the gas mileage is AWFUL!!!!! It's the only vehicle I've ever owned that I have to fill three times a week. That being said, I would think most people who buy these vehicles already understand that the gas mileage is atrocious. I would think the only vehicle worse than this might be the H2 (if that's even possible). Maybe Lexus will follow up the RX Hybrid with an LX Hybrid. I'd buy one immediately!

Default Gas Mileage

I own a 2004 LX. I would use one word to describe to gas mileage on the LX...AWFUL! This is the only vehicle I've ever owned that I need to fill at least 3 times a week. I would imagine the only vehicle that is worse on gas (if that's possible) might be the H2. That being said, I think most who buy the LX understand that this vehicle isn't built for being economical on gas. Let's hope Lexus follows up the new RX Hybrid with an LX Hybrid. I'd but it, immediately!

Three times a week?!?! How much driving do you do? How many miles on a tankful of gas?

I consistently get 300+ miles on a tank of gas.

I fill up 2-3 times a week on average myself. I run between 650-900 miles per week and typically get ~300 miles per tank too. That is even when I spend a portion of every tank crawling around off road.

Wow, I can't believe you are only getting 300 miles out of a tank. I have taken my 2000 LX on many trips and I get 17 to 18 mpg on the highway. We have driven over 23,000 miles in the last year. I have never gotten less than 350 miles out of a tank and I never let it get below a quarter of a tank. We average about 15 in town.

Actually the trip computer forecasts that I get around 320 miles on a tank of gas.

Just returned from a trip to Knoxville from Atlanta. My 00' LX470 got 15.7 mpg. I use premium gas and have the back loaded with woodworking tool.

My new '04 LX got an indicated 15mpg cruising on interstates at 80 mph on a recent trip. I think that's as good as most similar vehicles get. It would be nice if the LX had a larger fuel tank, though. I'm used to driving vehicles that have a lot longer range between fill-ups.

Just got back from a Minneapolis to Chicago road trip. I traveled between 75-85mph, occasionally hitting 90mph. All interstate. Moderately loaded with cargo. Auto climate control on the whole way, never opening the windows.

According to the trip computer, I got an average of 17.4 mpg on a tank of gas.

This is on a 2004 Land Cruiser with 12K miles on the clock.
