Hi my name is Dean and I am thinking about purchasing a 00 LX 470 the car currently has 98k miles. My only concern is have any of you run into any problems with the LX model? If so what kind of problems am I looking at? Just wanted to get a little info about the vehicle and get to know some of you LX owners in the process. Thanks for your input cheers.

I'm on the second LX470 now. The first one I kept for 10 yeas (1998-2008, 170k) - absolutely nothing outside of scheduled maintenance. The second one I bought in 2009 (2007, now at 60k) - nothing to report outside of scheduled maintenance.

The 97 is the last year for the LX450. Great vehicle, but different. The LX470 starts from 98 and on.

I got 97 with 157k miles and she's still running strong! so u cant really go wrong with lx truck!..

The above posters are spot on. Consider the timing chain service in your negotiations, as it will likely be needed around 100k.

Make sure you check the ahc on the truck.

It's a belt actually and yes OP consider the last service on this - 90k interval and about $1400

Hi. Also new to forum. Live in North Dakota and bought my '00 LX470 in 2007 with 85K miles. Now have 150K miles. Love it! Car runs well following routine maintentance schedule. However the nearest Lexus dealer is 250 miles away but our Toyota dealer has a good service dept.

Only now noticing starting issues this fall/winter, and from reading the posts, it sounds like the starter contacts. The Toyota dealer said battery and starter are fine. And of course it did not act up at the dealership.

The LX570 is nice. But I'm one that will drive a vehicle to the grave before getting another "new" car.

My LX needed new shocks, brace yourself for that cost because they are hydraulic. Also had an axel leak, near cv boot I think. That also can be costly. Other than those 2 big things- side view mirrors sometimes don't respond to controls, door lock jammed and that was a new assembly which was expensive. New battery of course. All this at about 120k miles. When you have a Lexus you expect repairs to be costly. But fortunately there are few of them. The engine will run forever, but the leather on the seats crack and look bad and the wood on the steering wheel crazes.
