Default Brake Controller Wiring

Hi gang,

Have any of you wired a brake controller through the harness under drivers side dash? If so, does this setup provide power to recharge the travel trailer battery as you drive?

The reason I ask is that some vehicles, for example late model Ford pickups with factory trailer wiring, do not send power to the trailer battery.

Thanks,

Bruce

This is usually not a factory arrangement. RV dealers and auto shops do it routinely. I ran a wire from a battery isolator to my 7way plug to charge the trailer battery while driving. I ran it under the vehicle, not through the cabin, along with the blue wire for trailer brakes.
